It appears from this information, TVChoice is down from 45p to 30p for one week only. probably not he best listings magazine but a way of hitting RT where it hurts.

A near 15% rise cannot be justified even with the usual excuse of ' increasing production costs '. If only wages kept rising by that percentage!
When you realise it was only a year ago that there was also a 20p rise, and that in just over a year the price has gone up by 33%, you can only see sales dropping.

As for the 2013 thread, its just ridiculous and no need for it before the new year. Unfortunately it has led to a number of posts like pointless thread and pathetic, which, whilst correct, you now have to scroll through. I will be avoiding for some time yet.”

I always maintained that the 2013 thread should not have started until todays RT was issued. Trouble is you get posters who don't really participate in the thread who like to be funny and clever and try and launch the thread as early as possible! It spoils the occasion. Considering the first RT after Christmas is out today, THAT is when the 2013 Countdown Thread should have started.

I do wonder though, if considering the price increases may decrease sales, will 2013 be the last one ever?

Picked up the latest edition Total TV Guide today, £1.10 - 50p cheaper than RT.

Since the BBC has no control of the magazine it could be very possible. Now it is run by a company that is only interested in money, 2013 could be a big decider in the future of RT. Assuming the double issue next year is £3.20, i think breaching the £3 mark could have significant impact on the one off buyer, especially if he competition can keep its price significantly lower.
There is an opportunity here for another title to compete. As long as that title can provide listings for as many channels as possible and give a good description of programmes like the RT then it is very possible the demise of RT could be coming.

Just spotted a mistake in the new issue of RT, (5-11 Jan). IT gives the on sale date of the next issue as Tues 12 January!

A year and a day since my first post on this thread, I bid farewell to it, it has been fun on here over the past 12 months.

Here's to the 2013 thread, and I will see you on there.
