I can't see Midwife being on Christmas Day! It has Boxing Day written all over it!

If the BBC did manage to show Toy Story 3 this year, I think it would be wasted in the post The Queen slot, and I think it should be a little more into the evening. Something like this would be a solid line up IMO.

15:00 The Queen
15:10 FILM: A Christmas Carol
16:40 BBC News and Weather
17:00 Strictly Come Dancing
18:00 EastEnders
18:30 FILM: Toy Story 3
20:00 Doctor Who
21:00 EastEnders
21:30 The Royle Family
22:30 Mrs Brown’s Boys

if the Christmas RT starts on the 22nd Dec then hope the Christmas idents start on the same date as well because if they start them the week before(15th Dec) then that will be well too early.

Unlikely that BBC would show Doctor Who as late as 8pm (never been later than 7pm) and they haven't split EastEnders into 2 episodes since 2008.

Also don't think BBC will have Toy Story 3 as Toy Story and Toy Story 2 took 6 years before they premiered! (but you never know)

This article thinks Call the Midwife will be on Christmas Day!

Don't forget Room on the Broom! That must be on Christmas day as last years The Gruffalo's Child was on at 6.30pm - perfect for just before bedtime! ... for my 4 yr old - not me :0) Although that may have been on BBC2. Dr Who will probably start around 6.30 - 7.30pm because I always have to catch it on iplayer as it's kids bedtime so I miss the start.

I think it will be:

3.00pm Queens speech
3.10pm Film (christmassy or kids animation)
4.45pm News & Weather
5.00pm Strictly Come Dancing
6.00pm Room on the Broom
6.30pm Dr Who
7.30pm Eastenders
8.30pm Call the Midwife
9.30pm The Royle Family
10.30pm Mrs Brown's Boys

Ooooh, only 153 days until Christmas day!!! Santa's Toys shop was on QVC yesterday too

It's more what I think they should do, not what I think they will do .

I always think Splitting EastEnders is better on Christmas Day than one hour slot.

Also, I know they have been saying Call the Midwife will be on Christmas Day, but I just can't see it myself. Doctor Who and EastEnders equals to 2 hours of 'Drama' in prime time and I think that's just about enough. BBC1 always gives us a wide range of programming on Christmas Day, Unlike ITV

I doubt Toy Story 3 will be on it's more likely to be Up. But maybe Toy Story 3 will be on something like New Years Day though.

Yeah I really like having a major movie in the evening, it's good for the ratings. Last year's movie ratings were awful! I miss the days when Finding Nemo and Shrek got like 8-9 million viewers

Also, I'd love to have Miranda instead of The Royle Family, it just seems a bit outdated IMO. I actually think CTM is alright on Xmas day. So many shows, not enough time!

Even if we don't get Toy story 3, Up is practically certain to premiere. It's a big movie and I hope it gets a good evening slot and 8 million viewers!

I agree, I'd love to see Miranda but is there even a Christmas Special this year? she seems so slow at getting episodes out there!

Here is my VERY early and VERY unreliable prediction (just for fun):

3.10 Film Premiere: Up!
4.45 Room on the Broom
5.15 Strictly Come Dancing
6.15 BBC News
6.30 Doctor Who
7.30 EastEnders
8.00 Call The Midwife
9.00 EastEnders
9.30 The Royle Family
10.30 Mrs Browns Boys

They have, but it only happened last year due to the re-jig of the schedule caused by the cancellation of (yawn) The Royle Family.

Almost certainly a better put together schedule than the actual one will be, even if Toy Story 3 is unlikely.

As for the possibility of Call the Midwife on Christmas Day, unfortunately, I think it quite likely, despite the programme having the wrong tone for the occasion - there are even fewer frontline shows around now than in recent years. It's the type of Christmas special that would sit much better in the series' usual Sunday slot (on 23 December) - that's what would have happened in ye olde Christmasse schedules (when there was a far greater number of entertainment and comedy shows than now). With a little imagination, even what is available could fill out the schedules a lot better: a New Tricks Christmas Special - bizarrely, there's never been one - on Christmas Eve, say, and Strictly Come Dancing on Boxing Day (with one-off contestants doing both latin and ballroom), perhaps, for a start, but they're not bothered, so it's sparse pickings generally, with such programmes few and far between, save for on (mainly) Christmas Day itself. Offensively, the BBC calls such shows "treats", as if the BBC didn't have more income (in real terms) than at any time during its existence (despite the licence fee freeze) and as if we hadn't actually paid for those programmes.

I'm looking forward to when channel 4 starts having its Christmas films. It can't come quick enough!

They won't show home alone, it's on throughout the year on various other channels anyway (although I'll probably have it on DVD at some point anyway!)

Wish they'd show national lampoon's christmas vacation... now thats an hillarious christmas effort.

5USA are also good as cheesy christmas feel good films.

Yeah I know she's taking forever isn't she! Don't know what's keeping her! I must have watched S1 and S2 about 5 times, I love the show so much and with her popularity exploding since 2010, an episode on Christmas Day would be amazing! Oh well, she's confirmed S3 for Autumn

She tweeted the other day that they had been doing the readthroughs for series 3. So she has at least written it now!
