Why do the producers deny the public their result?
Surely the whole point is finding someone that the public like, so why manipulate the show so that an act that the general public don't like makes the final!
The (second) biggest humiliation in the history of X Factor was when JM was beaten to the Christmas Number One spot last year: why do Simon and co. want someone who the public don't particuarly like to win and be a flop... it will happen again! |

I agree. Why do they fix it to keep the likes of Cher and Katie in?
We aren't suddenly going to fall in love with them overnight. We don't like them (well I can't speak for everybody) and that's that. Forcing them upon us isn't going to make us buy their music. |

Public cannot be trusted in shape or form, so they have to intervene.

Because we (the public) get it wrong. Democracy does not work.

Mary had the fewest votes anyway. She was 125/1 to win. That says a lot.

Bookies odds are not votes. Mary was never going to win the final - but neither was Cher. That's not the point! |

The public always get their result in the end. Whether Mary finishes 4th or 5th isn't really going to make much difference. It's not as though they've just let some hugely popular potential international superstar slip through their hands.
We all know that it's between Rebecca, Matt and One Direction. The lesson for future acts? Be good enough that you don't ever end up in the bottom 2/3. |

How about because the judges' save is the most talked about and blogged about thing each week and the show is getting record ratings, #1 show on UK TV.
It doesn't matter because, barring disasters, it is impossible for someone who came 4th or 5th this week to win the show next week. I think Mary going will favour Matt and Rebecca. I can't see people who like Mary switching to either 1 Direction or Cher if they continue to vote. Matt and Rebecca are proper singers with appeal to an older age group, which is where I assume some of Mary's votes came from. So Simon may live to regret his choice. |

If Mary had had the lowest votes then Danni would not have chosen Cher. It would have went to deadlock to get the same result.
