"If everytime cher performs she bursts into tears, then maybe this is too much for her"
She was already in tears before she performed and then after was begging simon muttering to him the whole time

Its quite clear to see she cant handle the stress at all
Every other act left can

She's unprofessional not emotional. She cries because she's potentially a goner like a sulkly bratt.

Simon did say if I send home one of you it will break you.

So basically Cher got saved as she was mentally unstable

Nothing wrong with being 'emotional', did the trick for her tonight. Not that she was ever not going to be put through. Credit to her for knowing when to turn on the waterworks and that clever, defeated whispering of 'I'm sorry' to Cheryl which I noticed she re-enacted tonight...minus the tonsilitis.

She's 17 year old. She's too weak for this level of attention. Some kids can handle it, but she can't. It's partly the fault of Cheryl and the show because they have bigged her up to be the best thing ever. In earlier shows she was basically told she's going to win the competition when people like Simon said it's as if she's been performing for years... but then it stated going tits up and she can't handle it.

I imagine many kids her age would feel the same, but they're not in the X-Factor and they're too busy worrying about their hair and spots.

She was crying before she even started singing. Finally realising she's not as popular as she, Simon and Cheryl thought she was??

Jack Black also isn't associated with the word smart or intelligent. It's a competition, of course emotions are going to be high. Crying will be natural for some people in the position these contestants are in. It's easy to mock someone for crying on TV when your sitting on your couch at home, with no pressure whatsoever. It's easy to forget, but this show actually makes these people's lives. Even Mary, who got eliminated today, will probably never end up behind a register again.

She cried because she knew it would work. Mary was giving her daggers. I loved it!

Cher was never going to go tonight, even though her sing off performance was possibly the worst ever in the history of x factor
She absolutely murdered the song, mary sang exceptionaly well and still went out
Something stinks for sure
The tears cher shed proves she cant handle the pressure, if she becomes an artist what if her first song bombs? She will be finished because she doesnt have the strength to come through criticism

Cher is one of those acts that I think should have been told she is good but to come back in a few years as I don't think she is ready for this now.

She only cries though when she is in the sing off - playing the victim card to get the judges votes.

The rest of the time she is as hard as nails.

I just don't buy it frankly - she must have gone to the same acting school as Katie!

But Rebecca was crying even before she auditioned!

Much as I like him, I don't think he's right - crying frequently wins you popularity points on shows like these.

Looking the victim, alternating with being arrogant and then the tears - mentally unstable and unprofessional to say the least.
Also manipulative.

Still waiting for real tears from Cher, so far I see a scrunched up face and smudged mascara.

I agree she is manipulative, but thats the brat in her.
If she backed up arrogance with talent then it would be hard to criticise her being in the final, but she is rubbish

Mary ruined a song that is sung much better by the original artist. She was shouty, even though she's a belter. That's jut sad.

Cher changed the song, added more high notes and out-sung the original artist (though the original artist isn't much of a singer.)

Two different styles of music and singing. I much preferred Cher's performance, to Mary's bad karaoke.

outsung the original artist ?
She was out of tune, shaky, she was absolutely dreadful even cheryl looked shocked how bad she was.
Cheryls face was a picture, but when it came to voting mary was well and truly stitched up
