The could is wifi right? so most laptops and mobile devices have this built in and should need a dongle. The cloud is not free though unless you have an O2 / BT account and get it free with your mobile broadband etc.
You wouldn't connect a mobile broadband dongle to the cloud, you would just plug that in and browse with it anywhere, not just Starbucks. To register for The Cloud just connect to the wireless hotspot via wifi and try and browse anywhere eg www.google.com and you'll be taken to the log in / registration page, you won't be able to browse to any websites until you've registered or signed in to an existing account. |

ah ok, so you don't need the dongle to use the cloud. You just need to connect to The Cloud wifi and then get to the registration page, from there I don't know because I haven't used it myself.
Did you get instructions with the dongle? login details anywhere or maybe you need to register with your O2 email address or something. I'm sure somebody here will have done it before. |

http://www.o2.co.uk/explore/tariffs/.../unlimitedwifi has some details on how you connect to The Cloud via your mobile i.e. you authenticate by putting your mobile number in.
Presumably it's ostensibly the same sort of procedure (just using O2 Connection Manager instead) on a laptop/netbook for mobile broadband. I can't say for sure though as I haven't used it myself. |

How do you register on the page? Goto the broadband help section, click Mobile Broadband on the left hand side, then click wi-fi (basically their Connection manager will do this) I think your problem might be that some private premises hotspots don't allow access without purchase. But you'll find a hotspot locator in the help section. |
