X Factor US is doomed if they pull stunts like this.
In the US Simon is acclaimed as being honest, critical and saying what the public feel.
If there is this kind of fixing and manipulation in X Factor US it will not go down very well over there. Add to the fact that there will be too many foreign judges (Cheryl and Simon) and a foreign presenter (Dermot), the fact that the Americans won't be able to understand what Cheryl says without an interpreter and I think Fox could pull the plug after one season. US networks are far more jumpy than ours and will cancel shows halfway through if they don't get the audiences they want. Karma might yet bite Simon in the arse sooner than he thinks and I would be delighted. |

They won't make it so blatant immediately, though I imagine they'll still manipulate it. They'll build up an audience for a few years first, and then start creating controversy by letting the cracks show.

No I think it will do well state side. Its high drama just what they love over there. Cheryl is a risk but then we all know that if she panns they will just drop her and bring someone eles in. Fox does love to milk a cash cow, with Glee America Idol and now X factor

American Idol has no sing off or judges vote.
That's the problem here. Americans like their democracy and wouldn't like the sing off. They have never had a dance off in Dancing with the stars either - unlike Strictly here which had one for the last 4 yrars until they dropped it for 2010. The sing off is the problem - it allows the producers to rig the show! |
