Yes but tell that to those who think it is a real dancing contest. It is the same over on the X-Factor forum... they all seem to think they are part of some great musical discovery... it amazes me... it's all just light entertainment... a bit of Saturday Silliness.

Ann was a perfect example of what the show should be, but it offends the eyes of people who have a strange attraction to feet.

You mean in future all the celebs should not bother learning their dance steps, shout down the judges, arrogantly talk about having 'the public's support' and talk about themselves ad infinitum ...?

The porkpie is winding you up. Not worth it in my opinion . I simply bow out of such threads now and hum Goodbye Dolly .

If you want to be able to justify that you don't take it seriously, then anything more than the odd, non-judgemental reference to Ann's politics would have to be vetoed. (In my view!)

I generally share your views about Ann tbh, but for some reason - Anton in the main - I was curiously amused by her antics.

The continued survival of Gav and the outrageously gorgeous Katya is the matter I take most seriously indeed!

Off topic, I always enjoy your posts. Just don't always agree with every bit of all of them. And I'm an argumentative g*t.

Why not? The viewers decide in week one who they will support anyway

Certainly there was a shift in the public voting, but I wondered at the time if it was swayed by the announcement that Craig would be dancing with Ann on the tour. It was often suggested that a vote for Ann was a vote against the judges, but once it was seen that 30 pieces of silver speaks, then that reason evaporated.

Also, even the outburst by Bruno was farcical. As Gavin had got through, it was obvious that at least one of the other "good" dancers would be in the bottom two.

Panto season really is here.

Needless to say, I got shot down in flames. Seems we are in the minority pork.pie, but actually the viewing figures will tell the reality of the differing opinions.”

You are of course quite right, the show won't be the same now Ann is no longer dancing with Anton, they were the stars of the show this year.

The BBC will appreciate your loyalty greatly, especially since so many will be tuning out.

I have watched since series 1.

If the people who tune out now Ann is gone only watched for her then that is no great loss.

Perhaps not for you personally... but the show you watch is made to attract viewers.

It does attract viewers

It has been going for 8 years. It certainly doesn't need Ann.

I am thrilled she is gone.

Well done, you missed the point of the post... for that I congratulate you... a skill indeed.

Surely the objective of the post was to be controversial and to wind people up. You can't blame people who watch for the dancing, being glad that the programme has gone back to its roots. If it's not your cup of tea.....don't watch. Simples!!

I had been wondering what effect Ann's departure would have on this Forum.

But half-a-dozen new Ann threads have started this morning, so it would seem that interest, at least amongst forum members, is as strong as ever.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking the quality of dancing seriously on Strictly. It isnt a weird obsession with feet, it is great dancing which entertains quite a lot of people actually. and clearly entertained the majority of the voting public on saturday...otherwise Ms Widdicombe would still be in the competition surely.

The show is faaaar from over and I for one cannot wait for next weekend now!

*hums Goodbye Widdy along with Abba*

Ann and Anton's performances - and the public support for them - represent all that is grim and tawdry about British television.
I'm very glad they've gone but I fear they have already been the nail in SCD's coffin. Unless they go back next series to genuine wannabe dancers - but I should think they'll go for the tacky option of finding someone even more physically incapable, for the grinning mob to roar at.

I would argue that the show forced her departure, because the joke they started could not be allowed to make a mockery of the series.

The OP sincerely believes the hundreds of posters on Saturday night who broke open champagne and danced a conga then went to bed smiling, ought to be in sackcloth and ashes.

A small number of persons multi-voting and multi-posting can give the illusion of a Spanish Armada, and 13 million tuned in to see the showdown. The nation has now spoken through the ballot box, fullstop.

I was under the impression that the 'pro-dance brigade' where the ones running around with pitchforks, so surely they were the mob. Those voting for Ann merely seemed to be enjoying the entertainment.

Me thinks the real mob have issue with someone having fun with their show.

You cant force people to vote or not to vote. As the Widdy Lot on here always used to on here, it was the public vote that kept her in each week as she was 'entertaining'.

The competition has been entirely left in the public's hands this year with the end of the dance off. The public didnt vote for her enough to keep her in this week. So she went. Simples.

I am glad that you 'know' what I sincerely believe, it saves me discussing the issues with you... if you do wish to continue this discussion, do you mind if we return to telepathic means?
