It certainly didn't sound like an off the cuff speech thrown together in the aftermath of a surprise departure.

She's worked hard on the aspects of SCD that she needed to. Dancing wasn't one of them though.

On a lighter note, I did chuckle when Natalie and then Gavin had to practically kneel on the floor to get low enough to hug/kiss her at the end.

You can, I hope, see the hypocrisy of you picking up on my statement but not the statement I was responding to. ”

Good post.

I thought the response from the other contestants was rather telling.

That had nothing to do with her though. I thought she was very gracious. None of us know what she is really like. She is quickwitted & knew her time had come

I thought her parting words were lovely.

I would like to say that I think the Ann fans on here have been very gracious.

I have criticised Ann on more than one occasion as have many many others. I have never received any remarks because of it and with so many of us it must have been difficult for you guys. Well done!

I thank you. I just roared at her performances and thought some of the comments on here were so vicious and unwarranted. But now I am supporting the devine Pamela who just stunned me on Saturday with her grace and elegance.

Aww that's a nice post Caro

I wouldn't class myself as an Ann fan, but I did find myself defending her more and more recently. It sort of became open season on her, which is fine I suppose as people are free to say what they like.

In the end, all Ann did was cost Jimi, Patsy, et al a few grand in fees, which they would all have collected had they stayed aboard for one week longer than they did.
Conversely, Ann made a nice little pot of taxable (we hope) income from the 10-week stint, which she looks like increasing by having signed up for a "comedy" turn with CRH during the official Strictly tour 2011.

Looking at it this way has saved me much of the frustration-induced high blood pressure that a lot of posters have inflicted on themselves in the past couple of months.

Do you have a 'thing' for older women?

Unfortunately that is common on the Internet, people make vicious comments about others who they have never met or had any contact with except seeing on TV or in the newspaper. I hate to think what they say of people they actually know.

I thought she looked a bit confused and pathetic while waiting for the announcement as if she couldn't believe she was actually in the bottom two.

BBC fix by all accounts, rumour has it they would have had to had a stannah fitted to the staircase on the set to avoid the cruel sight of Ann kalumping down the stairs at the start of next weeks show. Shame on the BBC.

Is it honorable to undertake a job, knowing that you're only going to take less than half of the requirements for that job seriously?[/quote]

Ann made her conditions clear from the start. The BBC were under no obligation to meet them.

Oh were you in the ongoing discussions that the BBC had with AW? If not the second statement is like the usual spin put out by socialists. I think she did a splendid job under the constraints within her role. Most of the program looks scripted to me.

Excellent post.

I see one or two of the usual suspects are still having a go at her on this thread.

They could learn something from the manner in which she exited this show.

Ann was gracious in defeat but she was arrogant in her attitude to the latin dances. She seemed to live in her own world with a my way or the high way attitude. I suspect though like many people she's a mixture of good and bad traits. Let's face none of know her personally all with have to go is how she strikes her.

I agree. She was gracious in defeat in the results show and in the programme this evening, too. I enjoyed watching her and Anton today.

I received many insulting comments for my criticisms - I was accused of hiding behind a cloak of anonymity and making comments I wouldn't make to her face because I chose to post on a forum (these were comments on her politics and God how I wish I'd been given the chance to facer her.) It was implied that I was a coward, demanded I apologise and even suggested that I come out from behind said cloak and pass comment in my real name.

Those comments were removed, though not at my behest.

I'm sure the poster will recognise himself - though tbf he wasn't the only one.

But she did have the advantage of BBC machinations enabling her to stay far longer than might otherwise be likely. If she'd conformed to the same rules as everyone else - worked as hard, tried to learn the steps for all dances and taken criticism without constant interruption I'd agree she was competing on a level playing field (or rather dance floor.) But the fact that she got away with breaking the rules and playing it for laughs most certainly did offer her a benefit denied to others.

Paul Daniels was never going to be a winner - but at least he respected Ola and the rules of SCD by giving 100%.

At least we'll now be spared her constant allusions to standing ovations - even last night on ITT she couldn't resist referring to them in a self congratulatory manner.

I have found that the real dance fans know how to behave, it's the wum's that cause the trouble and there did seem quite a few of them attached to said lady.
