I thought as they'd got the showdances out of the way that they were gonna do the 'new' dance as their farewell dance. In fact it would have made more sense to do the new dances at the beginning of the first show, followed by the showdances then have the highest scoring/favourite dances reprised by the top 2 in the second show... oh well.

I'm guessing I'm the only one who actually wanted to see what BT would do with the AT. Seriously. It could have been the laugh out loud moment of the night after what I thought was a bit of an anti climax ”

I think Artem is most definitely keener - in fact, I don't think she's keen at all, her body language has always been a bit aloof when they're not dancing.

Whilst I'm glad not to have seen BT doing her AT, in a way it could have been the funniest dance since Bacofoil,

I liked it the old way [ ]. I think they should have their highest scoring dance to show what they did best, their favourite dance to show what they liked best, and then the showdance to show off. Preferably with tinfoil, dodgy lifts and plenty of scope for sarky comments.

Any chance that Pammie and James might book a training room, do their AT and put it on Youtube?
I'd actually like to see it.

I REALLY unappreciate the snow that resulted in my 85 year old mum's flight getting to end of runway before getting cancelled

I prefer it the old way too, I just thought that as they'd bolloxed it up and left dances unlearned at the final that that's how they'd do it. Poor James... avoided the Samba and STILL didn't win

Just caught up with last night ... I think it really suffered from them having to do 2 new/4 dances in total. Showdances were definitely extremely lack lusture. Sparkly flat caps are so not the way forward ...

I'd quite liked to have seen DrPammies AT as well - and it would have been nice for the bronze medalists to have had a goodbye dance all to themselves. If they'd cut out the vox pop Wonderful Widdy section there would have been plenty of time.

So, Kara didn't samba and Matt didn't waltz - is that right?

I'm just rewatching it, and if it was the backflip that did it, I can barely believe how she continued with the routine, considering she did a cartwheel and that lift where he drops her but is still holding her and by the bad arm (explaining that so badly). Brave girl. Wish they hadn't included it.

Believe so, if they wanted to lower the number of contestants they should have cut the charleston and had the 2 dances starting the week before the quarter finals, or keep charleston and a) start 2 dance stage 2 weeks before quarter finals or b) start 2 dance stage one week before quarters and have 3 dances in the semi (no bliddy swingathon though).

Yup. I could happily do without the Charleston (just a thought - if Gav had got through to the final, he could have done it in the final... Now I'm feeling deprived of the footage of Katya trying to get him to gurn. ) as Kara did my favourite Charleston of the series and it just didn't have enough gurn in it - I believe they want more dancing in their daces than their feet in that dance.

I think this series suffered from all Widdienator's demands, she wouldn't do group dances, so there weren't any and while she was still in they couldn't do 2 dances, so they couldn't catch up with the missing dance.

I don't mind the joke contestant but I hope to God that the joke contestant doesn't get to dictate show policy in the future.

I definately think BoD was a factor in the way the dances ended up, missed out on group dances, which can be hilarious, missed out on dances - flipping woman

Yup. No one should be allowed to dictate the show the way she has. It is unfortunate that she was then in a series that did allow props, lifts in dances that normally wouldn't, harnesses as it just blew the whole thing to unprecedented levels of carp.

*voice from off camera* "Do you like the Charleston, Gavin?

Gavin, on-camera - deathstare.

I think it would have been physical hell for him. I wish we'd seen it.

Unappreciating that this didn't happen (bless hlf)

Very much appreciating the idea on another thread of Steve Jones taking over from notdead. At least then if there was no totty amongst the contestants I could perv over him

I don't know why people have such a problem with Steve Jones, he was really good with Claudia on Comic Relief does Strictly or whatever it was called.

And the fact he's easy on the eye doesn't hurt!

I'm one of those people that have a problem with Steve Jones. I just find him incredibly annoying and a twit. Just find him so smarmy.

I think most good early evening tv presenters have somthing of the smarm about them. That's what makes them unthreatening for a wide audience range. Dermot's smarmy, as is Richard Hammond, Anton is definitely smarmy and Graham Norton is very smarmy when on early evening tv and I would take a smarmy presenter any day of the week over an "ageing legend" with bad jokes who can't read an autocue.
