Bit of lateral thinking. Who says it has to be a man? It could be a woman. What about ................................. Widdy!

No, please stop throwing things at me!

When we had this discussion about Brucie's successor last year, a large number of s were posted by a large number of people at the name of Johnny B being touted.

"The John Barrowman Strictly Come Dancing Show" sums up the fears of such posters, myself included, about the effect he would have. Brucie's 5-second tap dances and corny jokes are mild irritants compared to what ultravain JB would inflict. I'd rather grit my teeth and watch Anton; at least he knows what irony is.

Yup, it would turn into the John Barrowman show wouldn't it - not ideal. And I am a fan of JB, but I don't think he would be right in this context.

I will throw things at the tv if Widdy has anything to do with it!

I find Bruce's "jokes" boring and embarassing. I think the audience laugh to be polite, rather than because they have a genuine urge to laugh.

That's the problem, names like Norton, Clary and Barrowman keep being mentioned. All would be a disaster.

I don't think Wogan would want a weekly commitment to the programme.

I am sure Anton would like to do it but he would be even worse.

I admire Brucie - what a trouper he is! But he's not the same as he was even a couple of series ago; the strain is beginning to show, I think. When he is allowed to do the odd ad-lib, he's as brill as ever, but the relentless 'jokey' introductions to the dancers are really beginning to pall. I think it's time he hung up his dancing shoes.

Am I the only person who thought Graham Norton and Claudia did a really good job on that execrable Eurovision dancing show (whatever it was called)? I think they'd make a great team to replace Bruce and Tess.

Quite so. The last thing we need is a gay host. Too many men are afraid to take their wives dancing as it is. Say what you like about Brucie, at least the doddery old twit is hetero. The old Come Dancing had sports commentators as hosts: Peter West and Brian Johnston come to mind. I think Tom Bergeron is a sportsman also. Who among today's sports commentators would be suitable?

Personally, I'd like to keep Claudia on it, although perhaps not if she had to give SCDITT - she really is brilliant on that.

Kate Thornton? She does the live shows...

There don't seem to be the quality sports commentators that there were in the past, most of them seem to mangle the English language as bad as many of the sportsmen.

Perhaps someone from a news background?

I would be happy for John Barrowman to give the job a go. I think he might be surprisingly good, he can also dance which obviously counts for a lot.

Love him or not, Brucie will be a tough act to follow.

Anton - no thanks.

It took him ages to make up his mind about signing the contract for this series.

I have the feeling from the post-Blackpool shows that he knows he's lost the audience for his infill jokes.
Maybe in future he'll just do the Christmas Show, because that is a one-day event where he would be able to hold the audience;

It's Hobsons choice with those two. Barrowman is far too "look at me!"
Anton is presently a bit lightweight, but I'd prefer him to Barrowman.

What about Tess/Claudia as a Bruce/Tess replacement?
Tommo781

Personally, I would love to see Karen Hardy on the show. But I am hoping that Alesha gets the boot, and if we can't have Arlene back, we have Karen Hardy as a judge.

Your right, He must stay AT HOME.

Why replace him. Tess is doing half the job with Claudia anyway because he can't cope with the whole show.

If only he had been put out to grass before the generation game.

how about Michael Ball as a replacement ?

It doesn't matter who lands the gig, they're going to get a massive amount of flak from the off. I just hope they're prepared to have a lot of complete rubbish written about them for 14 weeks.
