Anyone made their own Christmas puds?
I always make two in October but give them to friends as I don't like xmas pud. They are such a hit I have to make them every year now.
I use a recipe from Leslie Waters but apart from the one I have written down the only one I can find online purports (great word! ) to be from Sophie Grigson on the BBC Good Food site. Hey.
I love making my own Christmas puds and for the last 5 years (as long as I have had my house) I have done, however this year due to time and a potential move I didn't and have gone for the £2.99 from lidl. I use a recipe handed down from at least my great great gran it's ace, it makes 3 and we all have to have a stir and make a wish

My Dad makes the best Christmas pudding and he gave me his recipe. But my boss has bought me a big M&S Christmas hamper which has a pudding in it so we're going to eat that instead.

My Mum does the puddings despite the fact the she hates cooking and I do the cakes. There is no finer christmas brunch than a slice of pudding fried til the outside is crispy (in butter
) with a tiny bit of whipped cream on the side. I can almost taste it now.

Always used to get an Xmas pud from my aunt but she has got to the stage she can't be bothered now so we are having a change this year, my OH's apple and raisin (soaked in Amaretto) pie.

I make ours on Christmas eve then it goes into storage until the next Christmas and the one from the previous year is ceremoniously brought out to be consumed the next day.

My mother makes a cracking one. It's much lighter than a normal shop bought one (almost half the way to sponge - kind of) and I've had her make one during the year as I think it's marvellous. That said, I like the shop bought ones too (though don't particularly like ones too heavy on nuts, peel or booze).
