An article in The Times today had the cheek to point out that Gavin Henson has made it to the semi-finals whereas Austin only made it to the quarter finals!

Austin was a fantastic dancer and should in no way be compared to Gavin, who has little or no dance ability.

Poor old Austin should have won that year - he was diddled

I thought Austin had more charisma on and off the dancefloor and was far easier on the eye!

Gavin can be funny but I'm surprised by just how popular he is and how highly he's been marked for some of his dances.

Austin over Gavin for me in both the dance and eye candy depertments

Austin was better dancer but he had freakishly tiny little feet and it put me off watching him

I think Gavin is funnier, though I also realise that funny does not mean they should win (*cough Chris Hollins *cough*)

Austin was a far better dancer and would have been in the semi and the final had it not been for that pesky dance off!

(but Gav is far easier on the eye )

Was never keen on Austin - though I concede he was a good dancer.

Gavin's wit wins it every time with me!

*sits back and waits for Alli-F to discover thread*

Wasn't it the judges leaderboard that QF that screwed him over?

I loved Austin and wanted him in the final at least if not winning.

I also love Gavin and his partnership with Katya.

I bet the next time they meet at an England v Wales match Gavin will be happy to let Austin know that he went at least one step further.......however but for the dance off change Austin would probably have stayed in and Gavin would probably have gone home.

Austin over Gavin.
He was robbed of his place in the semis without a doubt

Loved Austin & Erin from the start, but it's taken till now for me to warm to Gavin & Katya.

Austin Healey all day and night... was bit unlucky that the judges voted him last... and if I remember it correctly, the way the judges score the last four, was mathematically impossible for him to stay even if he top the public vote.

Austin over Gavin any day - both on the Rugby Field AND the Dancefloor

Not so -Tom was a victim of the voting system that made it mathematically impossible for him to stay in. The rules were changed after a public outcry and Tom went on to win.

He couldn't escape the bottom two, and yes, I'm still bitter over the saving of Lisa over him.

Loved Austin, love Gavin, but Austin was, by a considerable length, the superior dancer across both ballroom and latin.

Yeah prefer Austin over Gavin any day - he is gorgeous and he can dance and he was a brilliant all rounder on Strictly because he could do both ballroom and Latin.

Austin by a coutry mile. I dont fancy either of them but Austin was of course a much better dancer and his personaility appealed far more to me.

Also technically Gavin hasn't got further than him in terms of numbers. Austin exited in a 4 couple Quarter Final whereas Gavin is in a 5 couple Semi. Gavin would almost certainly have left over Patsy when he ended up in the bottom 2 as well if the Dance Off were still with us.

For God's sake why are you comparing Austin with that plank. Even his name sounds like something out of the Addams family.

oh yeah you're bang-on! He couldn't escape the bottom 2 no matter how the public vote... then he was voted off by the judges.

And if the dance off hadn't been with us Austin would have probably made the semis, and yes, still bitter

I'm a fundamentalist Leicester rugby supporter and have a somewhat Tiger-striped view of the rugby world, but even so, I'd rank Henson as a superior rugby player. Different types of player so hard to judge, but Oz did flatter to deceive for England at the highest level.

Oz definitely the superior dancer though!

oz trouble imho was he was a bit to utility back and never nailed down one position - Catty suffered form that but finally SCW realised he belonged at IC. anyway I digress - difficult with Henson because he's not played long enough due to injury and other things to see whether the level of brilliance he had was sustained or a bit Carlos Spencer - ya know brilliant but occassionally barking mad

but Austin was the better dancer by miles *tries to block notclooney getting through dance off*

Oz played most of his Eng career on the wing which wasn't his best position but he was never gonna get a look in at Scrum Half with Bracken & Dawson there either.

"had the cheek to point out"

... but it's the truth as in, fact. Nothing wrong with publishing that!

(Also, I liked Austin but don't agree he should have won. Tom deserved it (as people voted a lot for him). and I don't even think he deserved 2nd, Rachel was rightfully there as well. It was just a strong year.)
