BT Mobile Division Left To Go It Alone
Supernova
19-11-2001
BT has demerged it's mobile phone division, mm02, creating a separate £6.8bn-valued company.

Shares in mm02, rated the 40th largest company on the London market, started trading at 80p.

BT is to retain control of it's traditional fixed-line business.

There is speculation mm02 may not have been big enough to survive as a separate entity, with some analysts saying it could become a takeover targert.
