Have a look at Dr P's latest bit of showoffery:

[url="www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/dec/06/strictly-come-dancing-pamela-stephenson"]

Does she not realise that this sort of stuff alienates the voters? Not many, admittedly, since it's in the Grauniad.

Sorry, but that has got to be Pamela's mildest column so far and apart for her mentioning the subject of mental health yet again, I can't see much wrong with it tbh.

Oh I don't know.. That's just Pammie. I quite like her columns and wish they were a bit longer.

I thought she was fab in the Salsa, but rapidly gone off her since then.

I like Pamela. She does grate on me at times, but you can't deny that she's a very unique character. The fact that she doesn't censor herself is refreshing; it certainly makes a change from the bland characters we usually get on Strictly.

Matt and Scott are both incredibly dull. In fact, Matt has no spark about his personality at all, which is why I find his dancing so dull - I really don't think he's capable of delivering a great performance.

I really like Kara, and she's easily the most "normal" person left, but even she's a bit dull too.

It's great that Pam has shown that a 60 year old can be a contender. I very much doubt we'll ever see another "oldie" who can dance as well as her. It's an annoying cliche at this point, but she truly is inspirational.

Sorry, but I really can't see what was so objectionable about that column. Basically she's saying it's going to be difficult to adjust to humdrum life after all the glitz and glamour - what's wrong with that bit of insight?

And I searched in vain for anything vaguely snobbish.

The OP clearly just doesn't like Pam. It's just a negative thread for the sake of it.

That's a bit rich coming from you!! You're not a fan either - we get it.

The article isn't that bad, so it's a non-story.

If you're gonna have a dig at Pamela, why would you pick her best column as an example? The other ones make some terrifying reading.

Hell you and me agree about something. I don't think she would impress the rampant druid.

I'm not suggesting Scott & Matt have the most engaging personalities in the world, but I'd rather sit through one of their interviews than listen to Pamela laugh hysterically for no apparent reason and talk about the issue of 'control' in her and James's relationship for the upteenth time.

I find her more dull (and less sincere) than any of the others. But I guess what is perceived as dull varies from one viewer to the next.

Quite. Far better to be rude and nasty about the celebs and other people who can't actually defend themselves.

Pamela is quite annoying, but she isn't as bad as she used to be. I think she should make the final over Scott because she's been more consistent than him.

She is insincere a lot of the time, but I don't think she's dull.

I saw nothing wrong with it. It actually had me laughing out loud. (maybe I have a sick sense of humor. ) I have to say I actually like the woman. I think she's a hoot.

Well I'm only a few years younger but the only thing she 'inspires' me to do is to put the mute button on.

You're right, not many Grauniaders watch SCD. It's too low brow for them you know.

That's why i thought this years lineup was good - there were a number of different characters - many of whom weren't perfect.

Kara is very very nice (which I like), but a show full of Kara's would leave a lot of people unhappy.

I see what people complain about with Pamela, but those characteristics dont mean much to me. I generally look more at the positives in people.

I can understand why people don't like Pamela, as she's very OTT at times. However, I sort of think that's why she's such a good dancer. Many people her age are quite jaded and have a negative outlook on life. I know several people around 60 who are obsessed with the fact that they're getting older and all they seem to think about is what that means in terms of the things they can't do any more.

Her positivity seems forced at times, but I genuinely think she's quite a positive person. I like the fact that she's a strong character who doesn't really rein herself in too much. I think it's refreshing, as most of the celebs are very conscious of the way they come across. Many even seem a bit too sickly sweet to me, as if they're not showing who they really are. Patsy in particular was very conscious of coming across well. She's certainly a better actress than I thought!

Why would you say that? As a pinko yoghurt knitting liberal I reserve the right to read the Grauniad and watch Strictly.
