In praise of the final 5- I do not know who I want to win and I love that feeling

I love the fact that I have parts of all the final 5 that I adore and for the first time ever I do not mind who wins. This thread is not for someone to persuade on who is the best and should win but for the folk who have enjoyed these dancers for different reasons.

In no particular order as I love all of them:

Gavin- the journey, the humour and the fact that despite some atrocious dancing at time he makes me smile. He brings out the mother in me

Matt - The dances that he has done, the gymnastic twists, the energy and the elegance.

Scott - The Jive was brilliant, the VT's of his animal actions and he just looks like really good fun

Kara - The beautiful girl who dances like a dream and articulates the joy from it all. She also makes me smile.

Pamela - The James partnership, the fact that she is 61 and can still keep up with the youngsters. She shows you that age is no barrier (it makes me feel better about ageing).

Any one of these could win and it would be fair. I cannot slag any of them, yes they can annoy but they can also dance and have improved in different ways. I also enjoy the partnerships that have developed with their professionals.

So let us big up the semi final, sit back and enjoy what has been a fabulous strictly season

I cant WAIT

I mean literally...I am more excited for this semi than I have ever been for a Strictly semi before!

Roll on Friday...

I do know who I want to win but I don't think they will and I hate that feeling lol

I am very much looking forward to this semi-final though. Although that in itself worries me lol. With expectations this high and the fact they have three dances, I'm worried it might turn into another post-Blackpool week where they're all a bit lacklustre But I don't want to bring down this lovely positive thread, so I'll just say bring on the most hotly anticipated semi-final in Strictly history!

I am very much looking forward to the simi-final this weekend . I will feel very sorry for whichever one of the fab four don't make the final.

Me too! *claps hands in excitement!!*

I like all of them for different reasons- would like some to leave earlier than others but now that BoD has left I can honestly say I am looking forward to seeing all of them dance!

Probably won't stop me shouting at the judges a bit tho...

Great thread and I'm with you OP.

The last couple of years I've struggled to like any of the finalists or semi finalists. This year although I like some more than others I'd be happy if any of them won.

It's the best year since Ramps, Emma, Louisa and that dreadful rugby bloke were the final 4.

Am very happy with the Final Five, and wish all of them the best of luck. Seems much fairer to have a double elimination at this stage to shorten the long-drawn out business of who wins (and who cares about coming runner up or third?)

Katya has been pulling marvels out of the hat every week for our Gav.
James is having a ball - has never got so high in the competition before.
Natalie had a huge disappointment last year, now under much less pressure to win, just a general expectation of making the last three.
Aliona has survived horrendous criticism of her choreography and has trained farmer Matt to dance well while putting in more travel miles than any other pro.
Artem, newbie, is just having a ball!! .

Great thread! I feel the same, not quite sure who I want to win, but am very excited for the weekend and all 3 dances, huge fun ahead!

Yes, I usually have a favourite by this stage but not this year. Enjoying having such an open competition.

I'm keenest on Pam and Kara.

Not so much on Scott.

Less so on Matt.

Don't like Gavin but I don't think he'll trouble me by winning.

Bring it on. Let the dancing begin....

Great thread! I also don't know who I want to win - or rather wouldn't mind any of the fantastic four to win - not sure about Gavin.

However, this clip from an earlier post shows that people are still thinking that Matt is a farmer. He is not. It is his father who is the farmer. Matt is a television presenter who happened to be brought up on a farm and who went to stage school before appearing in a seaside review-type show. He was also a gymnastic champion in his youth.

Look, for decades if not centuries England has been littered with "gentleman-farmers" - so why can't Matt sit in that category? As long as the cows and pigs still accept him, why can't we? One of my relatives is an ex dairy farmer and he never minds still being called by that monicker.

Normally I have a clear favourite by this stage,b ut i tink there are four that are fairly interchangeable depending on how the perform on the night. Have really come round to liking gav and his strange sense of humour and he's put the work in and eally tried,w hich is what I like to see, but I think this will be his weekend to go.

... are you sure. One of my old flat mates went to school with Matt and it was a normal comprehensive. It put on plays and that, but was a normal school nonetheless...

I know who I want to win. The best dancer.

In theory, this should be Matt.

In practice, I think Kara has edged it.

I wouldn't mind any of the fab four winning, but have a slight preference for Kara and Matt

Gav has done a Kenny Logan and got to this stage despite not being able to dance, though he has improved. The only place he should come now is 5th though, like the Logan

Well I'd like to congratulate all five remaining contestants on making it to the semis! I have my favourite of course, but I think they've all done brilliantly and have all entertained us in different ways. The best of luck to all of them.

Have you noticed by the way that from the old guard of professionals James is the only one still in!

For the first series ever, I don't have a favourite at this stage.Any of the Fab 4 will do for me

I managed to go most of last series without a favourite (moreso once the wonderful Jade had to leave. ) but that was more because I was a little bored. This series, I really look forward to watching them all.

Gavin's my least favourite, but I don't really, really dislike him. I think Kara may be my overall favourite more often, but my favourite changes between the top 4 depending on how they do each week. It's quite refreshing!

Very difficult for him to be a farmer when the family farm is in Northumberland and he lives in Tring!

He went to stage school after normal school! Then on the stage.

Geography was a weak subject for me at school.
Where is Tring?

Going onto the stage after stage school? That's a really bold step.

Does it matter if he's a farmer or not?

Kara's an actress but has done nothing since Eastenders - what does it matter.
