Seem to remember there was once a time when they didn't do Coke etc but some form of generic product instead.

Surely people can remember mcdonalds cola ????

Before McD had the coke license, till staff were trained to say 'is mcdonalds OK' if somebody asked for coke. I remember root beer as well.

Working there from 87 to 90 I can remember spending many a shift on the drinks machine just filling drinks.

I am pretty sure Coke Zero is a fairly recent addition. Since it is a recent product in itself. Wish I lived in Scotland I would love the Irn Bru option

yeah it replaced another coke pump

if you want a drink in mcdonalds you need to protest

because that is how we got it apparently in the 80's or 90's cannot remember mcdonalds came to scotland (glasgow) and there was not irn bru in the restraunt (glasgow are mental about irn bru if you go there and ask for a can of ginger they all know what you mean) they were insulted thousands of complaints so mcdonalds did a deal with barr

I prefer the milkshakes, also they should sell beer like the spanish McDonalds as they would probably sell a lot at weekends when the clubs and pubs are emptying.

The best thing ive had in mcdonalds was the mctoasty in bulgaria it was like the burder buns turnout the opposie way with ham and cheese in the middle yummm

im from glasgow and a can of ginger can mean any kind, if i asked an ice cream van for a can of ginger he would say "what kind". Ginger is just what we call the fizzy juice it's self, empty glass bottles are called "ginges" short for "ginger bottles".

1 - I dont think council's would allow licence's to sell alchohol

2 - there would be alot of fights

3 - city center mcdonalds are alot of trouble at night if you add alchohol

People are already steaming by that time anyway, a wee mcdonalds beer wont tip them over the edge of madness. The one in sauchiehall street in Glasgow is always busy at closing time on a friday or saturday night people would probably sit for an hour with a few beers and a big mac before going home.

Plus theres wee sneaky places you can get a carry out on the way home anyway so its not like you cant get another drink to take with you if your goin back to somebodys house.

I'd love Root Beer back in McDonalds. Can get it in an American shop here, absolutely beautiful stuff, although they sell it for £1.50 a can, which is a bit steep.
