I really would have been, if you look at my posting history I haven't been in any Ann threads that I can remember, I may have been rude about Ann (well probably ) but I would never have been rude about her supporters.

I think you can vote for anyone you want, it's your 35p or whatever it costs.

Sorry, I think Gavin is completely different to Ann. He does try hard, you can see that from his obvious frustration when he fails. He has also produced two or three "reasonable" performaces..the latter "quicker" half of his routine last week was actually quite good. He doesn't exhibit the arrogance of Ann towards the judges, and he doesn't beg for votes.
He doesn't think he's funny or witty, unlike Ann who thought she was hilarious,,and people who think that usually aren't.
I also think it's time he went, but please don't compare him to AW..nobody deserves that !

I think some people are missing the point of my OP.
I was not saying people can't vote for Gavin, people can vote for who they want.
I was just saying the people who criticised Ann for bad dancing then specifically said they were going to vote for Gavin even though he is the worst dancer left are hypocrites

I don't get the problem some DS posters have with Scott and Pam, but that's their personal opinion. If you want to vote for Gavin and want him to beat them because even though they are better dancers you dislike their attitude, be my guest

These shows always involve people getting votes out of sympathy, cos people find them attractive, vote for underdogs etc. People also sometimes don't vote for good dancers cos they forget or don't like their attitude etc. They are never exactly fair!

I do find it funny that some people think Gavin is a dick while others think he is sweet and misunderstood. Each to their own and all that jazz.

But as many others have said, there is no doubting Gav is the worst dancer. But he does try, I'll give him that.

I am supporting Gavin and will continue to do so as long as he is there. The judges didn't manipulate the scoring last week, his dancing improved so his marks improved, he still found himself in his usual place on the leaderboard second from bottom so no change there. He may not be the best dancer left in the competition but if according to some on here we should only vote for the best, then haven't the people who voted for Scott when he had his nightmare dance been guilty of the same thing as he is a better dancer, but he was not the best dancer THAT night. Surely if we are to keep this a pure dance competition and you are worried about Gavin taking up Ann's mantle of being the downfall of Srictly if they get to the final then none of you should have favourites and should wait until Saturday and vote purely for one of the top two accounting for taste as surely they are the BEST dancers.

Maybe people should stop insulting Gavin and his supporters and just get on with supporting their own personal favourites because if he is as offensive dancing and personality wise as a lot of posters say on here then surely he is no threat to your favourites.

And why not? Knives had been plunged into Pammie over and over again, even now, and she was a good dancer, why should Gavin be spared?

Some things are too horrible to contemplate.

Ok. I am fed-up with the assumption that it is women only voting for Gavin. I am fed-up with the assumption that we vote with our vaginas. Also, I am fed-up with the assumption that it is Welsh people voting for Gavin. (Didn't work for Joe Calzaghe but never let those Evil Facts distract you for an instance.)

But every year there's always a contestant or two for whom it is claimed people are voting for them because they are "fit", or Scottish, or whatever. For anyone getting this far in the competition there are many reasons why they are attracting votes - people like the partnership, or the dances, or the personality, because they have improved... the list goes on.

It is worse with Pam because people are attacking her personally, when she has done nothing wrong as far as I can see.

This is a dance show and naturally Gavin is going to get the most stick on that front because he is clearly the worst dancer left. Plus, my post was not really about that anyway.

Gavin is likely to come 5th. That's a fair position for someone like him. Kenny Logan came 5th and (as I found out today thanks to Monkseal) so did Roger Black, both are of broadly similar ability to Gavin.

I think the fact that this week is the semi final is irrelevant. Semi finals in recent years have only had 3 contestants, this year we have 5 so some of crap but likeable contesants are bound to slip through.

Kara for the win though.

I forgot about Kenny. He was pretty bad too.

This year has been funny, we have had some great dancers i.e the fab four, but also Ann and Gavin getting far despite their bad dancers. That's the show, and that doesn't bother me despite being unfair.

I did read the OP but this thread has taken many twists and turns since then, so I take it you will be going back and giving a sarcastic reply to each poster who has veered slightly from the original topic. I was replying to posts suggesting the judges manipulating the leaderboard and questioning people who vote for Gavin.

I am voting for Gavin .....and Kara as he is my second favourite, not for the dancing and not because he is 'fit' but because I really like his humour and his attitude towards it all and most of all his great relationship with Katya. I wouldnt want to see him win over Kara so my voting for him will probably stop if he isnt eliminated anyway before the final. Also hats off to him for coming in to this with absolutely zero dance experience (unlike some of the others) and being prepared to throw himself into it to the best of HIS ability, and trying his best to improve despite several knock backs from the judges.....Go Gavin and Katya.

For all those who look to ridicule people by saying they are voting for someone because of their looks.......have any of you read the stuff being written on Matt's appreciation thread ? and if he couldnt dance dont you think people would still be voting for him because they like him, or think hes cute or any of the 1000 other reasons people vote for someone, I think he would still be in the competition too even if he only danced like Gavin.

I will continue to vote for Gavin for as long as I choose to do so as I am sure will many other people.

I think the OP explained his point better with the second post (above). However, Gavin has not yet been "saved" while being the worst dancer left in the show, has he ? Granted, he has deserved to be in the bottom two more often, but Ann being left has mitigated his position up until now.
If he is saved next week, despite being clearly the worst dancer, the OP's comments will indeed beome valid, and we can start a whole new argument.
