I like Gavin too and will keep on voting for him for as long as he stays in. For me he has improved immensely and I think his VW will be great. I agree too with the other post that the "fab four" started good and have stayed the same,,,, and most of these have had previous dance experience.

I love Gavins sense of humor and his self belief that he can dance....he is nice eye candy for the ladies...........no he is not at the same level as the rest but he doesn't give up......or resort to personal abuse.......

Thing is, Terry, us 'girls' don't like sweet guys. We like naughty guys with a twinkle in their eyes and a hint of danger.

Can't really say Andre has a hint of danger. Or a twinkle.

I don't think he will by a long shot, but people voting for him are part of the problem with these shows being labelled ridiculous and not credible.

Plus, Gavin is very arrogant IMO. On 78 degrees North, he proved he is way too competitive and would do ANYTHING to win, even if it meant others failing.
He must know he is the worst dancer. But maybe he is actually deluded enough to think he can challenge the others, which is what bugs me. As much as I disliked Widdy, atleast she knew she couldn't dance.

I can understand more when someone can't dance but is likeable, but as far as I can see Ann and Gavin are not nice people. But I accept people have different views on what likeable is.
But it is a fact that he is the worst dancer left by a long shot, so I don't understand the votes for him. British people like underdogs too much!”

Your first point is not true - two words Chris Parker whom held many records for lowest scores on dances before people even more untalented came along.

I think Gav should go in the semis but I do believe he's trying his best and I find him strangely likeable. It probably is because he strikes me as honest - a tad deluded perhaps, not very bright and an odd mixture of reserve and exhibitionism. I still think Jimi should by rights by the fifth person in the semis.

However people are kinding themselves if they don't think personality comes into their voting except my mum who has accepted Pamela's right to be in the competition and talks about the top four despite having a very strong personal dislike for the woman. That said though she's only voted for Matt so far.

I don't think Gav is really the the "bad boy" type. I can't imagine he'd be very exciting company!

Gavin learnt to dance. All Ann did was allow herself to be embarrassingly thrown and dragged about the dancefloor by Anton.

Matt Dawson and Chris Hollins made the final and both were roughly at the same level as Gavin. It's not an impossibility unfortunately. And that's not even mentioning Chris Parker

For example.

He's now the worst dancer left in the competition - and he's a loooong way from even Pammie in ability.

So do you still support him?”

DJ are you accusing me of being a dahnce purist

In my view it is a dance competition but it's not only a dance competition so entertainment factor, personality, likeability and the "journey" all come into as well. For me Ann filled absolutely none of that criteria, she didn't really try to dance, I didn't find her entertaining, her personality appealing, I don't like her and I saw absolutely no evidence of her improving therefore as she ticked none of the boxes for me I found it hard to see what others were seeing.

I still support Gavin in that I like him and want him to do well, but unless he develops some hither to unknown talent this week I won't chuck votes his way in the same way I did for Ricky in last years semi-final. If he goes this weekend then fair dos it will be his time, in fact with two eliminations and up against the others I'll actually be amazed if he stays.

Actually, I agree.

I suspect Gav's toast this weekend.

Is it really hypocrisy regarding Gavin? I can't speak for everyone but I get the impression many people were frustrated by Ann not because she couldn't dance but because she wouldn't dance - she didn't really try. Gavin may be slightly deluded about his abilities as a dancer but he does make a genuine effort and, while he's not as good as the "big four," if you compare his Foxtrot last week to his first dance, he has definitely improved.

Didn't Andre also have implants to create his six pack? I'm sure I remember a rumour about that when mysterious girl came out.

I honestly just can't imagine why anyone would fancy him, he comes across as very bland.

Oh good I thought you'd gone a bit dolally!

Someone on one of the Ann threads accused me of being a dance purist nearly fell off my chair laughing I can only actually tell a Foxtrot from a Waltz because the nice announcer man tells what the couple is going to be dancing before they start

"Hypocrisy" is maybe a bit strong.

"Inconsistency" is maybe a better word.

Kind of both, from my point of view, but yes, the truly annoying thing for me was her blatant disregard for the spirit of the dance.

Thats how I saw it too. I think people look better on the bad dancers as long as they look like they are trying. I always liked seeing people learn how to dance and most of the time the really good dancers are good from start to end with little to no improvement, some wow dances and some not so brilliant dances but in the end technically sound all the time.

I like Gavin, yes I find him good looking but no I won't vote him in over someone just because he's better looking. When I personally think he's danced well to HIS ability and I see he's improved and put effort in I'll vote for him. If I think he's just messing about I wouldn't. I vote for Matt as well for the same reason and if I actually liked a dance from them I'd vote for Kara, Scott or Pam. I don't think Gav should win unless he puts in performances that deserve to win, but he deserves credit for at least putting in the effort to learn it, the proof is in how serious he takes it.

I think his idea of his ability might not be in comparing himself to the big 4 but because I think he honestly thinks he's getting better week by week, in a series maybe were there was only 1 good dancer it might have been easier to see. But most of the dancing this year has been of a higher quality by a number of people therefore the ones on the 'journeys' look bad from week 1 to whenever they leave because they just don't improve enough to touch were the top dancers started. And pretty much stayed.

Can't disagree more! Matt Dawson became VERY good with his ballroom by the end of the finals. Granted, his latin sucked.

Chris Hollins' rhumba alone beat all of Gavin's latin effort hands down (yes, including the gyration in his cha-cha, which, incidentally I enjoyed).

No one was prepared to really know who and how to vote in the first series, so even though Chris Parker was bad, somehow I feel it can't be used as a comparison in the discussion about Gavin...

Look, I like Gavin's deadpan personality, but I have to say I don't particularly look forward to his dancing. Even his foxtrot last Sat was so obviously overmarked. He has nice bum and chest, that's a given...

Can't find anything to disagree with in that post.

P.S. I voted for Kara on your behalf as promised

But no one has said he is as good as any of the fab four, and if they did they would be lying. It is not a matter of opinion as he is clearly the worst dancer left. That is a fact.

But if people vote for other reasons you can't stop them.

Perhaps you meant to say "they're entitled to do so."
