Hi all

I know nothing about docking stations! My son wants one for xmas and I wondered if anyone out there could advise me what might be the best one out of these two.

Or maybe you know of something better?
I have up to £140 to spend

Thank you

If you can stretch to it, this is the very best I have seen. Great name (Logitech), excellent sound, recharges the ipod as well so it never runs out if you leave it in the player, and also displays the song information on the LCD screen, has alarm, sleep, wakeup and cool lights that you can turn on and off by passing your hand over them!

Highly recommended: I have two.

Edited to add some information: firstly, the two you linked to above are ok, but generally just big speakers, and look it. The Pure-Fi is beautifully ergonomically fashioned, and has all the neat features I mentioned. It is slightly more expensive, but I believe well worth it.

Also, is it an IPOD your son has, or some other MP3 player? If the latter, ignore my advice as all the cool doodads on the Pure-Fi only really work with an actual ipod.

Like all the others, the Pure-Fi tells you you can connect "any other mp3 player", and you can, but via a 3.5mm jack, which also means you can't put it in the cradle, whereas the ipod sits and clicks firmly into place. If he has an ipod, and you can afford it, Pure-Fi is the best you can go for imo. If he hasn't an ipod, it's an unnecessary extra expense, as noted above.

That's the one we have. I cant compare it to any others as it's our first one. I'm sure there are fancier ones out there but I'm very happy with it and have no complaints. The sound is very good.

There was another thread with a link to a Play.com page. In IE it opened OK on my laptop but not in Firefox or my iPad.

I found that right clicking on the link in Firefox and selecting Open in new tab from the pop up worked. Never did find out why.

I think it's something to do with the way the play.com site works. Seems like the link holds for a few mins (as in, when I posted it and then clicked on it it worked fine) but then reverts back to the homepage, as it's doing now.

This is it from the Logitech website. Price in the UK approx £180.

It's a beautiful piece of equipment that performs perfectly, as you would expect from Logitech. And their aftersales team are fantastic, should there be any problems. Well worth the extra forty quid, say I!
