The 500(?) posters in the results spoiler thread last Saturday who uncorked champagne and conga'ed singing through the house may never discover what a close shave the outcome was.

After 8 weeks never touching second-bottom there is little doubt about the size and resilience of the Ann vote. With her gone, which way will this block of votes turn, if indeed it is a monolithic block? Will they vote at all over the next 10 days?

Will they vote for the woman pensioner Pamela? But will they begrudge James' public opposition to Ann?

If not Pamela then will they switch to the remaining female, Kara?

Or to Gavin?

Or to Scott?

Or to Matt?

Who will Ann voters prefer?

There is also the distinct possibility that the vote wont go anywhere - in that people who voted for Ann were not dance fans, and rather than "voting for Ann" were more either "voting for the Underdog" or "cocking a snoot at the BBC"

Of course, we - the poor licence payers - will never know!!

I have absolutely no prove of this but I think Kara could do well out of these votes. I have noticed that a lot of people seem to have Kara as there second choice. I support Gavin but when he has gone I would support her and have given her a few votes over the weeks. Just seems like quite a lot of people say the same

Added to this a lot of people will vote for the 1st time in the Semi &/or the final.

Many Ann voters said they were not really saluting Ann, rather to even the score because the criticism was too vicious. If this is true then fans of any celeb could rubbish said celeb in the forum. Then wait for a shower of votes from the Ann Coalition.

Why would anybody vote for someone else? Like her or lump her she was a star. The rest are dross. I wouldn't mind I don't like AW that much she has lost her hard edge. Which of the flotsam five could one rely on if things got tough. None of them .

I am sure Conservative Central Office will be glad of the weekend off.

But seriously, I didn't know anyone who admitted to voting for her. I don't think her votes will transfer anywhere.

The more you post the more convinced I am that you really don't understand the whole concept of dancing.

Hi Bobajot, have fixed up an appointment for you to get some free spectacles on the NHS. Enjoy

Yes, I don't think the Ann fans were fans of Strictly in the traditional sense. I think she pulled in people who may have watched sporadically but not in an obsessive, watch and vote every week way. So I don't think the majority of them will now start voting for actual dancers because they obviously wanted Ann on the show at the expense of the others. Why would they switch now? They probably won't even tune in.

Has anybody found out how many votes are phoned in?

Supposing the voting results were put up on the Wikileaks site? Would it then be discovered that only a few thousand votes were actually recorded and that the whole competition's veracity was held to ransom by a pathetically small number of people?

If people say that they have to keep phoning before they get through, maybe you haven't seen the BT call centre set up in Sri Lanka to handle the phoned votes.

My intuition is that the silent Ann vote amounted to a huge total, and Central Office accountant is now breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Tangerine you have done it now. Ann voters always take care to do the opposite of what you say.

After your posting they will now watch en masse as a matter of principle and vote possbily for the underdog at each stage.

The only candidate I can see if is Gavin whom would forfill the stick it to the judges/underdog vote. Then again Ann's voters motivation is a complete mystery to me.

I'm not going to vote - people who vote on reality shows are the ones away with the fairy's. What's dancing got to do with it; them pro's are hundreds of percent better get paid a lot less - go figure. The amateurs enthusiastic tired or otherwise are overrated egotists best given a wide berth. Mind you that would be difficult for the Old Mare with the jaw rattle. She'd jump the plank given the chance but not before giving a tome of dissertation.

That's your decision mate and why bother voting for anyone even a duffer if that's your opinion. Mine was that Ann was a bigger egoist than most of the rest of the other contestants combined certainly more than Kara but hey ho.

Gavin as he's the next crappest.

If they haven't got bored and wandered off...

On a sample of 1, you're onto something. When Gav gets the chop, I shall be voting for Kara.

AW is old school built on integrity and duty. That's why people voted for her in elections.

Lol, maybe so, maybe so. However if our dear friend bobajot is anything to go by, now that they can't vote for Widdy life no longer has any meaning and only idiots vote on these shows anyway. Contrasting sentiments, I grant you but there it is. So I stand by my feeling that the majority of Ann voters will have had enough of that silly dancing show now that only actual dancers remain

Well, as Gav can skin, fillet and then cook in butter a lovely bit of Artic hare I'll go for him thanks.
