AS's firing of Liz hardly is the most shocking, although it beggars belief that LorAlun thinks little boy lost, is a better prospect than Liz.....

I'm surprised, but after Stuart's plea, I was willing Lordallun to keep him. Stuart has made bad decisions, he's immature but he definitely has something. Liz was very polished and professional but she did lack a spark and too often, she's just been happy to go along with what the PM says, whether it's right or not.
When Stuart matures, he's going to be one hell of a businessman. |

To be fair, this is just like real life - good solid workers who actually get on with the job, being passed over in favour of mouthy, over-confident idiots with zero people-skills.
I'm not even a fan of Liz, and agree that there are plenty like her about, but it was lunacy for her to be chucked out over this task when The Brand underperformed at pretty much every level as PM... Vaguely looking forward to him getting his comeuppance in the interviews though... and Joanna FTW! |

It was shocking in that I think we'd all assumed that the next time Baggs was in the boardroom he'd be gone like a shot, but AS does have form for picking the "young man in his own image" over someone who can actually do so proper work.
Sometimes I think as viewers it's easy to forget that he has a job in mind and he probably has a pretty good idea of who he wants to hire or at least a shorter list of candidates he would like than there are contestants left in the show from reasonably early on and Liz was clearly not on the list for whatever reason. Overall though I have to say I am secretly really happy that we get to see Baggs being interviewed next week. |

I thought Stuart was cringeworthy, totally but agree with others who think that Liz although good at certain things lacks something and was never going to win, and LS kept Baggs for his entertainment value especially in the interview programme, some of those guys will hopefully rip him to pieces, can't wait to see Margaret with him.

It probably didn't hurt The Brand's case either that he totally went in there expecting to be fired and fought for his place. Liz and Stella both sat back a bit, expecting him to go as well - down to Stella grinning her way through the boardroom and Liz only giving a half-hearted plea to stay.

I agree.
It was disappointing to see Lord Sugar completely ignore the actual performance of the three candidates and make his decision on a bizarre whim. As far as I could see it went something like this: LS: "Stuart you are an immature child and it's time for beddy-byes." SB: "But Lord Sugar I made yo-yos as a schoolboy!" LS: "Why on earth didn't you say so sooner. I done (sic) the same thing myself when I was a lad. Liz, you outsold Stuart consistently, you are eloquent, dignified and hardworking. But I look at your CV and see not a single trace of yo-yos, nor any of the wild unsupportable claims that my good friend Stuart has made. Liz -- you're fired!!" Complete nonsense. ![]() BRILLIANT!! And so, so true. It did make good comedy viewing on the BBC2 follow up programme. He will certainly be annihilated when he does get the push. Still seems very unfair though and a ploy to keep people watching to see what happens next. |

I love Baggsy. He may be young enough to be trained up. Stella is never going to lose that annoying nasal whine of hers. Nor Chris.
The only ones with a hint of gumption are Jamie, Jo and Stu. The dung of the bull is powerful in these ones. |

Actually I think Liz's pleading speech was the nail in her coffin.
Stubaggs' was complete fantasy, obviously, but there was bags of passion and a real (if misguided) attempt to sell himself. Stella also showed a strong desire to win and made a very personal case for herself too. Liz just churned out some business jargon 'apprentice speak' cliches. She simply didn't show the passion of the other two, and she didn't make her case on a really personal level. I do believe she really wanted the job, but somehow the hunger and commitment did not come through in the boardroom. Spot. On. |

It is just an event in a tv programme, not some earth shattering event/s that affects the whole of mankind. Have no fear, Stuart will be hoisted by his own petard. |

Previously Lord Sugar has said how when you are out at a meeting you are representing your company, how you are the public face, your word goes, how those not there should support whatever decision and deals you made and so on.
So he would be happy to be represented by someone who stood next to another seller going "Whatever their deal we'll do it for £5 less. They're amateurs really" or outside citizen advice saying "Oh it's your pavement is it, I thought it belonged to the council. Perhaps you should just call the police then" and getting in a swearing match with competitors? It was a moment when Lord Sugar lost a lot of credibility and proved that it is just an entertainment show. For weeks and week the team leader of teh losing team has gone, suddenly when that should be Stuart the rule suddenly doesn;t apply. It oddly comes in the same week as the X-Factor rules change (so I'm told) that for weeks and weeks the one with the lowest vote goes, now suddenly there's a sing off. It just makes teh viewer think there's a not-so hidden agenda at work. PS - Does Lord Sugar not know that Stuarts' dad is a millionaire? I'm pretty sure that he has been given more in his life than £10 to buy yo-yos. |

I think certain candidates have totally underestimated Stuarts ability in the boardroom. Maybe if Liz gave a more passionate account of herself she wouldn't have been fired.
Also in the real world, Stuart (if what he says is the truth) is self made and did a lot off his own back, to do that at his age, or at any age, is quite something. If true he obviously has something about him. People like Liz are 'a dime a dozen' i.e went to University, now in a decent job, but she hasn't achieved half as much. If I were an employer in business, I'd definitely take Stuart over Liz, based on experience and spark. I guess we will see on the next programme, if his CV is all he makes it out to be. |

Which given the prolonged outing it got with Sophocles is somewhat surprising. Of course, I may be doing him a disservice. It may be that he simply knows that a candidate is not a good fit for the job in mind so was prepared to let her go to allow for comedy gold in the interviews when I have a very strong feeling Stuart may be found to have been economical with the truth on his CV. |

Why didn't Karen flag up his appalling performance on the task?
Pitching up outside the agents who rejected them? Demanding that they call the police? Selling half what Liz managed? Overpricing from the start? All you have to do is play on LS's father figure tendencies (I'l make you proud, I'm like a younger you) and you're safe - Stuart has proved that. |

Regardless of whether you think it was right or wrong to fire Liz next week's interview stage is gonna be a cracker with Stuart involved. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun if Liz were there and not Stuart. Can't wait!

Hire Liz to make you a million and she will
Hire the Brand to make you a million and he'll probably make you ten, he could just as easily lose you two though |

Baggs should have gone last night, but tbf, none of the remaining contestants are particularly outstanding, or 'exceptional' as Shuggs puts it.

As several people have alreay commented, Lord Sugar is simply a very astute busiman.
He wants to provide what his customers want. And his customers are us. What would you prefer to watch next week: Liz, who has no skeletons in the cupboard, and would be able to answer most questions intelligently. Pretty uninteresting really. Or Stuart Baggs™, being dragged over the coals. Watching Stella being reduced to tears should be good too. The decision was a no-brainer. |

Well... apart from the fact that we know that Sugar choosing that blonde woman over the Badger was an epic mistake
Although he did hire both of them! It was one of the all time great reality tv deceptions.Quote:
On Wednesday night Sir Alan Sugar will at last utter the words, “You’re hired” to either Michelle Dewberry or Ruth Badger, the finalists of the reality TV show, The Apprentice. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...icle713721.eceBut The Times has learnt that, since September, both women have been secretly working for Sir Alan — Ms Badger as a sales manager for his company Viglen and Ms Dewberry for Amstrad — and their performances will be taken into account in his final decision. The climax, which will be filmed on Tuesday in a TV studio that doubles as “the boardroom”, will be tacked on to the main part of the final, which was filmed last September and features Ms Dewberry, 26, and Ms Badger, 28, leading two teams of fired apprentices in a party task set at Tower Bridge. Must admit, once I found that out my enjoyment of The Apprentice was never the same again. Felt the show had cheated the audience. What a con.
