On Friday night first solo dance and judges marks.
Then swingathon with 5 couples on the floor progressively whittled down to 1 by judges, and judges marks for all.

Then on Saturday second solo dance and judges marks.
Then phone voting opens,
then phone rankings aggregated with 3 lots of judges rankings (not marks, yet to be clarified by BBC?) consolidated into 1 ranking.
Bottom two couples to leave "on Sunday".

Scott's got very whiny lately, it's getting on my wick </Len Goodman>

That said, I'd rather the better dancer stayed, so that's Scott. Gavin is amusing but deluded. Anyway i think they'll both go. The other three would be better finalists imo.

Tricky one this.

I normally always prefer the better dancer, which in this case is obviously Scott, but Gavin has made me laugh every week so I am reluctant to see him go. I don't enjoy Scott's Latin at all (even his Jive left me cold) but his ballroom can be beautiful.

So my head says I want Scott to stay over Gavin in the hope that he tones down the monkey impressions and Norman Wisdom channeling and gives us a gorgeous dance.

My heart (though I do want to state that I do not fancy him at all ) and my funny bone want Gavin to stay as long as possible, though not win.

Dear Miss Starpuss,

We all know Gavin will not win the glitterball.
So lying on the couch you are beating about the bush to say you will vote for Gavin.

Though you may have bitten off more than you can chew starting to analyse me! I am a deep deep well of neurosis

I always vote 4 times each week*. Those votes go to different people depending on how well they did, in my opinion of course. I have voted for Scott (his VW) and for Gavin (random making me laugh and his cha cha ) so who knows who will get my vote this weekend.

*didn't vote last week as I didn't watch as couldn't face seeing Ann again.

Gavin. Some of Scott's dances have been dynamic (especially the jive) but he seems unable to stand the pace and he doesn't make me laugh.

Gavin. I'd rather Scott & Pamela went home.

Gavin should have gone weeks ago.

While Dr Stephenson is away rehearsing this is my only chance to pinch her patients.

Scott is too careful with money to pay for a consultation so I shall give him one for free. In the Tessylum he always spoke to Tess in a monotone voice without surprise, giving the flavour of a black-and-white film. Tess with interesting modulations of voice had to drag modest comments out of him.

In this respect Scott is opposite to Gavin and most different from Kara, as if Kara is the natural leading lady and Scott the natural supporting actor. Gavin tore his own shirt off, sat on the judges' table and gave Bruno a prolonged kiss, Gavin is full of surprise if not shock.

Natalie looking like Ursula Andress tore Scott's shirt off, but Scott couldn't wait to button it up again. Women voters like men to be a little dangerous and unpredictable who can shake and stir. Scott does not want to win, his EE workload is his respectable alibi.

I would save Scott, I think he's the more natural and better dancer. He had a blip but I think he will come back fighting this week. It seems to me that he picks up dances quicker. I'm not sure that Gavin can make any more progress given the short space of time to learn all the dances.

I hope Scott will be back on form and makes it to the final - he was full of fighting spirit on ITT last night.

As I say on the other thread about Kara and Pam, to my mind the best final three will be Kara, Pam and Scott - but obviously have to see how they do on the night (or on replay after as I have other things to do those nights and am not staying in for SCD!).

Scott and Natalie have better choreography and connection than either Gavin and Katya or Matt and Aliona - while Matt is great, Aliona's choreography is really weird.

Scott for the final, wish Gavin had gone weeks ago.
Really want him to blow us away this week, was like a different man last night. Scott and Kara for the final two, not bothered about the other three.

Scott defo. I think Gavin is too cocky and thinks he is God's gift. Looking in the mirror at his hair

Also finding this a bit of a dilema I know Scott is the better dancer but I just can't warm to him, where as Gavin is very amusing and has a twinkle in his eye that makes me melt.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they both go this weekend but I'd also be a bit meh about either going without the other.

I would definitely save Scott over Gavin. Not only is he a better dancer, but he has a better connection with his partner. Although Scott's constant orangutan imitations would be hard to live with, I find them marginally less irritating than Gavin's vanity and delusion. Yes, yes, I know he has a sense of humour, but it's not enough for me. When push comes to shove, the better dancer would get my vote.

The interesting one to watch is Matt. I'm sorry to say that I have gone off him in a big way in recent weeks. I know he is expected to be this year's Tom Chambers and run away with it, but his irritation with valid criticism last week, the frankly bonkers choreography from his pro partner and, most of all, a feeling that his dancing is style over substance, have made me wonder whether he would be a worthy winner. I would rather Scott stayed at the expense of Gavin and Matt, and I never thought I'd say that...

In the Final will the last 3 be whittled down to last 2 by judges marks + phone vote,
then the last 2 to Showdance, with the winner decided entirely by phone voting?

That's how it usually happens so I don't expect anything different this year, but you can never tell!

I prefer Scott but I hope Gavin goes and if Scott goes too then that's fine by me. I'm hoping for a female winner this year. Not fond of the chaps.

Between Scott and Gavin I would probably save Scott unless he forgot his dance again in which case maybe not.

Between Matt and Gavin though it would be Gavin every time.

I can't vote on Saturdays, even have to get the kindly forumite Sid to throw a vote for me for Kara.

But just for fun, I would rather dave Scott than Gavin. I think even Gavin would be embarrassed if he's through at the expense of Scott. He may appear to talk big and wanting to go to the finals, but I think deep down Gavin is a realistic person when it comes to dancing, which he would know by now he's not really good at...

I always thought that the judges marks didn't count at all during the final.

Too late to edit, but in my previous post I meant to say I hope Gavin and Pamela go out before Scott, not Scott and Pamela - sorry.

Iremember more than once, in the first part of the Final one person out of three is eliminated by marks + vote. Then the final winner out of two is decided by phone vote only.

There were not 3 contestants every year so the format is not well known. Lisa Snowden was eliminated in Tom's winning year but did the Showdance any way. Zoe Ball was eliminated in Darren Gough's winning year and did not perform her showdance for academic interest.

Zoe did do her Showdance after she was eliminated.
