The editing...
The editing of this show has become a joke.
Every week I can predict the resolution from the way they edit the show. It's just all so knowingly edited. They should edit it without knowing the result. Sure it may make it harder to create a narrative, but they wouldn't sign-post the result so much. This week they were particularly blatant, taking clips from different times in the day to splice them together to try and portray them as neck and neck so the end result is a surprise. I think that's the main problem... they try to keep them neck and neck in the narrative, but often they are not. So they play up one side seeming like a failure. You can then deduce, when they are over-egging the failure of one side, that they in fact have done well. |

You can then deduce, when they are over-egging the failure of one side, that they in fact have done well. Firstly, it's impossible to edit the show without knowing the result for many reasons. Most importantly, the editors need to know what is brought up in the boardroom so they can include the relevant parts of the task in the first half hour of the show. Also, a result like this weeks (when one team does significantly better than the other), would have been impossible to edit without knowing the result because after watching all of the footage, it would have become obvious to the editors which team had won. Secondly, The Apprentice is a TV show deigned to entertain and if it didn't have a strong narrative I personally wouldn't find it anywhere near as entertaining. (Incidentally, I was also sure that I knew which team was going to win this week and I was wrong). |
