No signal in my new flat.

Hi, I have an HTC Hero on Orange and just moved into a basement flat where I get very little signal unless I'm at a window ledge. I know Voda have the Sure Signal thing, do you need to be a Voda customer to use it?

Any suggestions appreciated.

yeah you do.

there is not a lot that can be done. though a friend of mine moved recently to an area with no signal and Three released him from his contract. but this is by no means normal.

best i can suggest is that you speak to orange.

do you know if any networks get signal in your flat?

My flatmates get O2 signal just fine. I've another 7 or 8 months left on my Orange contract so I can't see them letting me out of it anytime soon

You can buy these

I think you put an aerial out side and it should then boast the signal in the basement but its quite expensive over £150.

Have you been on to the Orange web site to set it to share t-mobile signals?

this is what i was going to suggest. (as back ground for the OP the orange and T-Mobile companies have merged and are currently in the process of integrating their networks)

it would be worth checking if there is any t-mobile signal in the flat before we get too excited.

It would probably be cheaper if she bought out the remainder of the contract and then started a new one with a different network.

Being in a basement I wouldn't have thought you'll get much of a signal from any mobile network down there?

My flatmates get decent O2 reception everywhere, me I have to be at my bedroom window or the french doors leading out the back. It's like a half in/half out basement, if you get my drift.

I think that the obvious answer here is to switch to o2. get out of your contract one way or another.

Assuming you have a contract, how long is left to run on it?
From what you say, O2 would be the way to go.
