Would you change your vote based on the duets?
I was just wondering how important the finalists duets are to voters.
I can't imagine anyone changing their vote from their favourite just because another contestant had a better duet, but you never know. Do the duets simply influence floating voters or would you be willing or likely to change your vote. If you had voted for Matt all the time but loved Rebecca's duet, might you vote for Rebecca for example? If you are a huge fan of the person doing the duet, ie Robbie Williams, would you consider changing your vote to the person he was singing with? Or perhaps giving them a vote as well as your favourite? I like some of the stars they have lined up, but can't see myself altering my vote. |

Don't vote but would be voting for the contestant not the guest star. If I like the guest star the chances are I have supported them by buying some of their material at some point.

makes no difference to hardcore vote but the people who vote just in the final may well be influenced because its gives context. I was very impressed last year that Joe held his own vocally with GM though though it was "men against boys" with Alex and Beyonce but most others seemed to think it was the thing that won her it - it was very close that vear - JLS won the semi final but Alex overtook them in the final.

I don't think the duets or how big of a star the person you're singing with wins you the competition. The people who have been great through out always end up winning...they might not all have the potential to sell records in the real world but the best acts seem to win (Leona being an exception)

IMHO the duets are just a bit of fun and should in no way be taken seriously. Having said that, a very bad duet could be detrimental if they both don't stick to the 'script', one performer tries to be a diva screwing the whole thing up.

For the hardcore viewers, who support certain contestants, no.
For the average viewers, yes. I do think Alexandra's win two years ago was largely to do with her duet with Beyonca. |

I don't think people would change but it may influence the floating vote
They should do like American Idol and keep any celeb duets until the voting lines have closed (the duets ar performed on the results day when the lines have closed the previous day) so they don't have any influence on the vote |

would say it would make no difference to the hardcore voters but if you are floating it might do - just as any good performance can make you like someone more. I don't think it matters, who they are singing with (other than the fact that it might effect their performance if they are 'outsung'. For instance, I love Robbie but can't imagine it will make me suddenly like One Direction just because he is singing with them). But I do remember that I was floating during the Alexandra Burke series and her duet with Beyonce was so good it turned me.

Probably not but I think the deciding vote comes from those who make their decision of who to vote for on a week to week basis, so the duets could influence them more than anyone else.

Leona was definitely the best singer from her year. |

I agree that it is going to be very different and quite exciting. The duets could influence my vote.
I shall still look forward to hearing Matt in his duet song but will worry more that his illness will get in the way of his usual quality. One Direction and Robbie will be interesting. Robbie doesn't always sing in tune himself. Good choice Simon. |
