I like that Gavin started COMPLETELY from scratch.
He's tried his hardest throughout the whole programme, sometimes got it nearly-right, sometimes not so right. He's still a couple of weeks (at least) behind the others, if there had been a mid-series break, he would've caught up. There have been glimpses of some really nice bits of work. I still haven't made my mind up about Katya, whether she's achieved miracles or not. She appears to praise him a lot in training, and if he thinks he's done well but the judges don't, there's a problem there. She's already said he could get 'four tens' for the VW, but if that was from the same training session which Erin dissected, I'm worried. I was supporting him anyway, but I'm hoping he gets a proper chance to shine this weekend. No, he's not a 'natural dancer' but neither are the others when it turns out most have vast dancing experience already. Matt has the wrong partner and his time is divided. His acting has never been strong (tension in the face) but the judges only picked up on it recently. I thought I would like and support him, but he's not what I thought he would be at all. He has so much talent, if he'd had more time and a partner less oddball, he would have produced some gorgeous, classy routines. Scott has gone downhill, and has been vastly overmarked. He's had the fortune of Natalie as a pro. He's also played ever Strictly excuse card there is whereas Gavin's just got on with it. |

After tonight for the first time Matt might need saving.
Has anybody revised their voting preference? |

Matt's never had the benefit of my votes before, because I normally spend the weekends in the Republic of Ireland, and can't vote from there. But I'll be on speed dial from my landline and mobile tomorrow. Not that one person can make much difference, but he should have had 8s tonight - not 7s. FFS, Len gave Ann Widdecombe a 7!!!

I would vote for Matt.
All the other dancers are out of Gavin's league - the swingathon really showed who was best to worst. Gavin just can't cut it. And I'd rather see Matt dance than Gavin - I'm trying really hard to get myself to even try to look forward to the next eccentric horror that Aliona is going to make him perform. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Don't give a monkey's - Matt really tries, really puts himself out there. The only problem he really has is his pro - and he trusts her - she told him it was great. And they roasted Matt tonight - he's only human - I thought it was sort of real. |

Any reason eh?

If I'm honest, theyve deserved it for weeks. Matt has done loads of things to wind me up too, whining about other's scores and attitude, whining about 10s, answering judges back, disagreeing with them publically and it makes him come across as bitter and self-absorbed. He started off being humble and he needs to get back to that. Gavin, for all of his lack of ability, tries just as hard and puts himself out there just as much when he knows he's going to be absolutely shafted by the judges. He's not a performer, he's not a natural mover and he's incredibly shy and awkward, that must be torture for him to stand in front of the judges but he does it every week without complaint, with a little humour, self-deprecation and humbleness, Scott and Matt could learn from Gavin's attitude.

And Gavin has looked upset more than once. If you like them, you look at it one way, if you don't, you look at it another, perhaps. I'm not a Matt fan, exactly, but at the end of the day, he's just a MUCH BETTER DANCER, than Gavin. Although many don't think that's important of course.
