Erin and the dreaded MACHINE!
ESPIONdansant
09-12-2010
The one she used last night on ITT to illustrate faults. I thought Ian Waite was well into it but Erin is in LOVE with it.

Or is it all just a piece of business between Erin and Claudia for the sake of a laugh?

I think Erin should have all the arrows she wants. A shame I missed it when she got naughty/creative...

Erin is a brilliant analyst. Do you think it's just a wind-up or is Erin crazy-mad about the machine?

I think its a bit of a wind up but Erin loves the machine and actually knows how to work it which I am not sure that Ian actually did !!

Please describe the machine and also the piano contest. Nobody's putting IIT up on YouTube this week, so we non-i-player bods are obviously missing out on something amusing.

Thanks

Ian tweeted that it didn't have arrows when he used it, to which Erin snapped back "They've always been there".

I think there should be an internet campaign to get Erin her arrows back.

Its not only the comments and how well she can use the machine - its how stunningly quickly she can construct a point with visuals - its amazing.

The analyst machine is like the one used on match of the day, it allows Erin to draw over a still shot taken from a couples training session to highlight things like a celebs arm not being straight or their foot being in the wrong place.

The piano contest uses one of those floor pianos like the one in big, the pros have to hit the notes of a song as it comes up on a screen in front of them. The get points for getting the right notes then points off for getting the wrong note and then go into a leaderboard, there is a thread that has the current rankings.

The piano competition is no way as good as the dance-mat. The piano is a big fat loser.

Or am I mixing it up with La Wid????

Previously just a crude circle was drawn freehand around the area but Erin was able to create a circle and drag to set its size just as you would expect on a computer graphics program. I think she changed the characteristics of the circle once and also made the area outside the circle go darker. She must have read the instructions or more likely go one of the techies to show her how to drive the program - who would be able to resist her asking for help!

Erin is going all out to show how 'entertaining' she can be, hence her choice of John Sargent’s Paso as her favourite ever dance. I think it will be either her or Karen who will (eventually) cross over to the judge’s table and replace one of the men.

You have to admit Ian's version was more fun though, just who was he going to cross out or draw over next! What was even funnier was the next day tweeting he knew where he went wrong , he used his right hand to draw. Not bad considering he is a leftie, wonder how long it took him to work that out!
Bless him, thats why we love him

I love the way Erin strictlified the lines to make them purple with glittery outlines. I think we should march on the BBC (about the time the celebs and pros are arriving of course) about her missing arrows. Who's with me?

I think its part a "bit" and part that she is just excellent with the machine and doesn't hate it! Darren also had a go before Ian and also hardly touched it. I think that's why Erin has got herself a regular spot with the dreaded machine, because she can use it. Also the other thing that makes it so entertaining is that Erin doesn';t shut up and hilarious seeing Claudia try to interject or wind it up! Again I think it's part acted cos Anton does it too, and Erin knows they are short on time and is sort of winding Claudia up!

Claudia is very good at stoking up Erin, who responds brilliantly in her role! Claudia pretends to hate it and Erin pretends to be in love with it!

Erin and the machine are this year's Lilia and the dance mat! I love her enthusiasm!

Many thanks for the link above, but I cannot watch it because the BBC blocks all non-UK people from viewing its videos - including i-player.

So, many thanks to isopap for kindly explaining it all.
