I thought it was new celebs, but do the ones from this series make an appearance as well? Gayspy has posted pictures of Scott and Gavin which appear to be from the christmas show.

Well it's already been filmed so...

Just edited the title in case people don't want to know.

Everyone left in the competition on the night of filming did a group dance......apart from Ann who they said was at a WI meeting but on BBC Breakfast she said she had refused to do any group dances so thats probably nearer the truth.

The BBC announcement was that "The five star line up includes television presenter Fern Britton and her partner Matthew Cutler, legendary EastEnders’ lynchpin Dot Branning (nee Cotton) actress June Brown and her partner Vincent Simone, comedy actress Ronni Ancona and her partner Anton du Beke, stage and screen star John Barrowman and his partner Kristina Rihanoff, and completing our fabulous five is The Rt. Hon Vince Cable MP and partner Erin Boag."
No mention in the press release of anyone else taking a competitive part other than the 'fabulous five" above. Comments say it was filmed on the 29th November.

Even if the current series celebs were doing a non-competitive 'group dance' it could explain some of the tired performances on the 26th November and the 4th December. They were adding extra rehearsals and travelling time as well as the longish filming session instead of working on their own dances.

In previous years, the finalists were presumably expected to rehearse a couple of days and then film which could explain why the recently finished series finalists were struggling against those who had far more preparation time. You have to go back to 2004 to see Jill Halfpenny win both series and then the special when they simply repeated their earlier jive.

There's definately a non competative group dance, someone who went posted about it, and there's also been pictures.

Fair point, what I recall from that far back is that Jill's jive technique got the judges highest score in every show they were performed. I'd also forgotten Darren Gough won both the regular series and Christmas Special in 2005.

Checking the dates, Jill's series final win was on December 11th. It allowed a week or so for recovery/re-choreographing for the finalists before recording the Christmas special. Every year since, the regular series has finished only the weekend before Christmas. That's a tight schedule which is an automatic disadvantage for the regular series finalists. The specials in 2006,7,8 and 9 were all won by another contestant who had longer to prepare.
