remember when Len and co moaned ay Bruno for giving a 10 to Kelly and Brendan for a lift. Kara should not have got any 10's if that is the rule. One rule for some and amother rule for judges pets it seems. At least Craig is sticking to the rules.

What people seem to forget, is that each judge, with the exception of Len, is there for a specific reason, Craig looks for the purely technical, Alesha for the entertainment, and Bruno, well, I'm not quite sure what Bruno looks for, but each one is tasked to look at certain points, with Len as the 'head judge' who is there to keep his little gaggle in check.

Verdict from the Court of Appeal

With four 9s Kara would still have been at the top of the leader board. That kind of mistake has happened loads of times in the past, but has never been so blatantly ignored by the judges. Why bother having rules if the judges don't enforce them? Fair enough, a foot was briefly off the floor and one point gets deducted. However Kara's VW was better than many of the nondescript dances awarded 10 in the past. So a fair mark for Kara was 11. However 11 could not be awarded because there is no such paddle. Deduct one point then, giving 10 10 10 10

What I do find bizarre is all the fuss that has been made about Kara having her foot off the floor for a nano-second and, particularly, when this fuss is made by fans of Matt, when Aliona did something remarkably similar in the tango. At about 1.11 in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-ANRp0VUqw
Now, I don't care at all about the slip from either couple - Aliona's foot lost contact with the floor at the beginning and end of that spin, but for such a fleeting bit of time that it really doesn't matter at all. It wasn't intentional, and wasn't a lift. But what peeves me is the inconsistency of approach - one person can do it and it isn't commented on, while another gets a point deducted and a gazillion threads on DS to discuss it. Crazy. |

Reading some of the posts on this thread reminds me of friend I went to a Test match with several years ago. It had been the most wonderful days cricket and a bowler had taken 9 wickets, an excellent achievement. Yet at the end of play all my friend was worried about was the fact not enough overs had been bowled and you have to bowl X amount of overs in a day, the laws say so. He was so hung up on rules and regulations it was blinding him to the fact he'd just witnessed a special event. I felt very sorry for him.

Apparently if a woman becomes airborne, flying into a man's arms off her own steam, that is a jump not a lift. Time for the tennis magic eye to reach the dance floor and replace Craig.
