Only a "hater" would seriously use the word "hater"...

Just wondered if anyone agrees...
I only ever see this silly word used by the most rabid of fans (and not just on X Factor to be fair)
They seem to confuse apathy with hate.

I'm going to be seeing that dumb, over-used "h" word a lot on here in the next 24 hours, aren't I?!

And if this thread annoys you, it's just because you're a hayturz

Nope, I hardly use the word, but when I do it's to describe someone who consistently attacks someone in an unreasonable and illogical manner. It becomes obvious pretty quickly that they just don't like someone regardless of their talent. That can be an objective observation that anyone can make, it has nothing to do with being a fanboy/girl.

"hater" is a silly word, but when people think its alright to replace it with "disliker" it's even funnier

But the recognition of talent is subjective, I still think the use of the word "hater" says far more about the user than about the person it's aimed at.

No disrespect btw, I just don't think "hater" is an appropriate term.

LOL. KK. There was a forum member who said, and I quote, "Well I for one, hate Cher lloyd." What are we supposed to call him? A lover?

Geez people. It's like you people have never listened to hip hop/rap in your life. Ever heard of Kanye West, Eminem, Jay-Z, heck even Soulja Boy? Plenty of their lyrics uses the word "haters," it's pretty common among the urban community. And what about the people behind Cher's HATE campaign? or the ones that made IHATECHER trend on twitter, what are they? the gentle souls?

When used in this context, the rappers usually mean "hater" as someone who "hates" everything, not someone who happens to prefer something different to what you prefer.

"Hater" as a general term for those people who say everything is crap is sort of acceptable, but on here it is used at the drop of a hat in entirely the wrong context.

The fact that you automatically thought this had something to do with Cher kind of sums it up... I was actually thinking of the Mattzis when I started the thread!

Don't call him anything? Because you're supposed to address the POST not the POSTER? T&Cs.

I never use the word 'haters' to describe anyone on the forum as it is strictly against T & C's.

I'm such a goody-goody (most of the time).

Actually, when I use the word "hater" I usually refer to someone who goes out of their way to diss and talk about something they supposedly don't like. Take Kanye West for example, when he uses the term haters, he's referring to everyone who's tried to derail his career.

Saying someone is hate-ing on something isn't offensive. It's not like it's slander. I don't know why this board permits it's users to through out the word "chav" like it's going out style, but has strict rules about using the word "hater."

Andy, you can call Cher a 'chav' but you can't call a forum member a 'hater' or any names for that matter. It is about respect to your fellow forums members.

Not sure what this has to do with the thread in question.

And feel free to start your own thread about the overuse of the word chav

Yes, but he is meaning the kind of people that "hate" anyone getting success in their career, not people that hate him.
At least, thats how it sounds to me when he says it.

I think he's smarter than to use the word for people that just "hate" him.

I don't call anyone a hater here b/c it's against the rules, I'm just defending the use of the word. Again, being called a hater isn't offensive. My sister says I'm a Bieber hater, which is true. I find nothing offensive about that.

I completely agree with you, that was the point of the thread.. I wouldn't use the chavvy "h" word in any other circumstance!!

And yes, "hating on"... ugh... grammar, please!!

People don't really have to "hate" him, to be a "hater" of his. It's just a term for someone who is vocal about their distaste for an artist, in other, a detractor. what exactly is offensive about that?
