The most energetic dance of the night followed immediately by the swing??

Oh, I thought you meant he'd got Aliona's choreography to contend with.

Yeah well I think I am finally on that bus too!

I adore Aliona, she was amazing with Matthew Cutler in the pro dances last year but she just isn't helping Matt!

Maybe she will get better over time, I'm sure Ola was like that to start with!

She completely ignored the salsa, simply treating it as another 4/4 dance to the glory of Aliona. Everything Matt did was designed to make Aliona look good, except that she didn't.

They could have had a show dance...or got Whitney Houston to sing []...to give the couple some time to catch their breath

well yeah anything really! It really bugged me cos he was actually dripping with sweat at the end and you could see he was exhausted! He had what 5 mins rest maximum! Kara had had over half an hour!

It was obviously going to come down to Matt and Kara so he should have been given a fairer shot!

Please don't shout me down kara fans I love her too, just saying how I see it!

'twas a tad unfair,he was knackered and emotionally crushed, for him then to have to rush out, pick himself up and perform the way he did is a credit to him.

...or maybe the show was recorded and edited?

For Matt to dance straight away would have been unfair - I cannot believe they would do that.

As there was no voting there is no need for the show to be transmitted live.

Yeah watched it back pretty sure it was because when Matt and Aliona were being interviewed by tess everyone else was changed into their swing stuff! so unless they filmed it in advance and then made them all get changed during Matt's dance again just to look live i reckon it was all filmed in order! He was still panting as the scores were read out and then had to run and get changed and get back on the floor!

I know whatever happened someone would be in that position but I think they could have planned it better so someone with a slightly less energetic dance had the least time!

Was anyone there anyone at the show to comfirm it? Maybe they had a break or something on the show, but IMO the state of Matt at the end of the dance also suggests he didn't have much of a break! Also all the lifts that were expected when you compare him to Artem, he deffo should have had more of a rest!

Matt's disadvantage is Aliona.

Poor Matt - to be so crushed by the judge's comments at the end of a demanding dance and then having to regroup and do something as challenging as the swingathon. They should have planned for a dance troup thing, or something after the last celeb dance.

It will be unfair to whatever couple danced immediately before the swingathon. To resolve the dilemma we don't know if 5 couples drew lots.

yes i wish someone who was there could confirm how it was filmed as Matt came out looking incredibly happy, ok it could be just acting but i would like to know when the swingathon happened

I agree it's a shame he didn't get more rest but why should Scott (or any of the others) have been last? Someone had to be!

I did make the point that, although no matter what happened someone would have been in that position, it really should have been someone with a less energetic dance, Scott in all fairness didn't move much in the AT and if Matt or Kara had been doing that particular AT routine, I would have felt the same! It should have been the least energetic dance having the least break, regardless of who was dancing it!

Also there should have been some kind of musical/dance interlude to give Matt and Aliona ( or any other dancer in the last position) time to regroup, get a drink and a breather and prepare mentally for the next dance!

Matt was amazing to do as well as he did!

I have my doubts that it was live and I think Matt probably did it before his dance because he looked as though he was really enjoying himself and I don't think he would have been like that following the slating he got.

Buddy made a good point on the other thread when she said she suspected the Swingathon had actually been recorded before the main dances.

I can't disagree as Matt was certainly not lacking energy in the group challenge. So either way, he was not at any disadvantage - he came second after all.

Scott's mightn't have looked energetic but he did have a lot of lifts and movement round the dancefloor. It was probably a random luck of the draw. Or maybe they thought Matt would cope with the energy better? The adrenaline after a performance normally leaves people buzzing for a while, who would have expected Matt to be so demoralised after his dance?

If that was the case then they must have got all the other couples to change back into swing costumes when Matt and Aliona were dancing. Not saying you're wrong but seems like a lot of effort to go to

Matt should be head & shoulders above virtually everyone else based on his starting point.

You only have to ask why?

He was second and danced it will so I'm not sure it was a particular problem for him. Unfortunately for Matt the massive disadvanage was a salsa that missed the mark, Aliona didn't do him any favours tonight.
