Best and worst dances (Friday)
Linda_Dean
10-12-2010
For me, Pamela's dance was fantastic – I also thought the music choice was inspired, not a Gaga fan, but I thought this worked brilliantly and added to the intensity. Kara was great also, even though I found her VW a bit to fast for my taste. Either way, for me, Kara and Pamela are joint first with Pamela having the edge.

Gavin is definitely 'the worst' of the night. What I can't figure out is how I'd place Scott and Matt. Matt's was full of energy, but I found his dancing awkward to watch, he shifted between great dancing and geeky dancing. Scott, I dunno, for me something was missing even though it was 'ok'.

What's everyone elses opnions?

EDT:
I'm not counting the jivey thing at the end as the camera didn't stay long enough on anyone for me to see.

Ahh, but that's what I really liked about it. For me, the whole performance was edgy and a bit different, mainly because of the music and the fact they both played the part convincingly. As I say, I'm not a fan of Gaga at all, but it worked for me.

I can enjoy the use of non traditional music in these types of dances, as long as the music has a suitable beat and drive. As I say, I thought it was quite inspired.

2 - Kara - it was beautiful

5. Matt....I'm sorry but that Salsa was painful. I wish he had been paired with Ola or Flavia.

I didn't care for Pamela and James's dance tonight, just a personal preference but it looked a bit clumpy and clumsy in parts.

I suppose, overall, Gavin's was the weakest though there is no doubt he has come on in leaps and bounds in recent weeks.

He certainly has, and he is the most improved overall, with last week being his high point I feel. But, for me, he is still way behind all the others.

1. Kara

Way way ahead of all of the others, in terms of ability, technique and poise.

She leaves the others miles behind.

As much as I love Matt, he wasn't good tonight, he tries far too hard, and I must put Pamela at number 2.

2. Pamela is excellent, but lacks finish, and although she excels in gliding round the floor in ballroom, her LA is not always up there.

3. Scott for tonight, he was better than Matt this time.

4. Matt

5. Gavin. He has worked hard, but I think he can't get any better, he's reached his level, and it's not in the same league as the others.

See I love Pamela and Matt...it's fine but if Matt doesn't win this then it will be because of how rubbish Aliona is at choreography. It really annoys me that they haven't picked up on is her choreography....

Other years when especially the men have been rubbish or a dance has gone wrong they've said something!

I'm mostly in agreement with you again Linda. I think Pamela's Paso isnt getting the credit it deserves in some quarters and I say that as a Kara and Scott fan. I've decided I can handle Pamela when she isnt wearing an inane grin.

Scott's routine was slaughtered by some spectacularly appalling camera work and I have to trust from the judges and the audience that it was actually a lot better than it came across on the tv. Unfortunately we will never know as the camera refused to be where the action was.

My "who was worse" is a toss up between Matt and Gavin. I actually think Gavin edged it tonight as although his OK dancing is not quite as good as Matt's OK dancing, he was so much more relaxed which enabled me to enjoy it more.

So in summary

=1 Kara and Pamela
2 Scott
4 Gavin
5 Matt

Best = Kara
Worst = Gavin

The others are in between them in some kind of order, but I really can't be bothered to work out which.

I might watch Pamela's paso again, but it looked like yet another load of stomping and posing and throwing shapes or whatever to me.

Not enough spinning or footwork or flamenco content or whatever you want to call it.
