Like I said in the main show discussion thread, it's an epic flop, the so-called swingathon.

I've said this in another thread, but I admire Pamela for wearing that paso dress. Nobody would bat an eyelid if Kara or one of the pro females wore a dress like that, but because she's a 61-year-old granny, the whole forum erupts in a wave of tut-tutting. Ageist claptrap, IMO. If I had legs like that at 61, I'm damn sure I'd like to show them off! You go, girl.
I didn't mention her age, I didn't like the dress because it was cheap and lacking sophistication. It wasn't flattering on her. That's my opinion, age has nothing to do with it.

It has been tense on the forum tonight, hasn't it? Oh well, in cyber-space no-one can hear you scream, so I shall be shot down in flames for the following and, you know, shrug it off and remember that no-one knows where I live...

I agree that the swingathon was a shambolic mess and it was impossible to tell who was doing what, let alone if they were any good or not, but the little I saw of Pamela and James I liked. While the other couples were doing 'ooh, look at me' lifts, they were doing proper swing and I appreciated that.

Her legs do look very shapely now!

The whole swingathon was a pile of sh*te. You couldn't concentrate on a couple, so we didn't see what the judges saw anyway, and it was just horrid. I hope this is one of the changes they will get rid of.
I agree, a total waste of time.

Disagree.

Oh, the TV presentation was clearly lacking. As I wrote several days ago, for it to work for all the arm-chair judges out there the director would need to put a camera far enough back to get all 5 dancers in the same view, and hold it long enough.

And, btw, the results turned out exactly as I would rank the 5 on how "dancer-ly" they've been during the whole competition.

You don't say. I really I am scared tonight!
It is getting ridiculous how much tension there is.
This isnt really that bad. You shoulda been hear for the whole Rachel Stevens, Lisa Snowdon, Austin Healy, John Sargeant drama from 2 years ago. It got pretty brutal in here for a while. It was not a good place to be a Rachel or Lisa fan

All the couples were awful in the swingaton. It was more like carcrash TV then anything else. I really do hope that this was the first but also the last time it was on Strictly. The swingaton was just bloody awful!!
I agree it was a joke. I don't know how Kara and Artem came first, when all I could see them doing was lift after lift.
I hope its the first and last time we see it.

Perfect Pamela the judges pet, was rubbish in the swingalong and those boots were ridiculous. She looked like Florence from the magic Roundabout.

Did Pamela have trainers on in the swingathon? It sure looked like it :S I wonder why....

I didn't think they deserved 3rd place in it anyway, whenever the camera was on them they seemed to be doing the same move
All the couples were doing the same moves over and over. BTW Pamela is a lot older then the rest of the contestants. I applaud her for keeping up with them.

I'm really sorry for going off topic here. But I have been meaning to say for ages that "lach doch mal" is absolutely my favourite username on any forum!!!
Thanks that's really kind.

Anyway, I stand by my first comment on this thread, I hated the whole lot. I can't even say who was worst or not, because when they held up the paddle for Gavin and Katya I had actually not managed to see anything of their dance.

With regards to Pamela's paso dress, the only thing I was thinking about was that I "hated" her (wait). She has lovely shapely legs and she seems to be toning up and losing weight by the week (meaning she is putting a lot of work into this). I actually thought the dress suited her (but for me there shouldn't be necessarily an age limit for what you want to wear, and I know that Kara was wearing a similar dress for the Paso.

All the couples were rubbish in the swingaton. The "boots" she was wearing were dance sneakers.

Many of her dances have looked clompy and heavy footed and she's stumbled more than a couple of times as well. Her Charleston was as leaden and stompy as her clumsy jive.

I think she's a crap dancer, just to be perfectly clear. Being 61 shouldn't give her a free pass to the final.

The utterly gruesome gurning all the way through that swingathon was quite off-putting as well.
I agree with you totally

The Swingathon.... it was spposed to be fun, it was a load of rubbish and a waste of time. I thought Pamela and James would have been first off, the judges seem to have it in for Scott and Matt,

Matt was only beaten by Kara, so how is the swingathon an example of them having it in for Matt

Not impressed by Pamela and James in the 'Swingathon', I'd have had them out 2nd, after Gavin and Katya.

Couldn't care less what she had on her feet.

Lifts after lifts? Artem, to his credit, at least tried to choreograph the routine such that when he picked up Kara, one leg is supposed to touch the floor, so creating an illusion of a lift while not breaking the rule. But I think he carried her up a little to high and Kara, tried that she must, had her one foot off the floor.

Where on earth were there lifts after lifts for their VW?

I think Paace is talking about the swingathon (this is a thread about the swingathon) not the VW.

I couldn't see anything, so I can't say anything about it. The whole lot just looked like a big mess.

Oh I see. I don't know why I think she's talking about VW as well. I need some coffee (though I never drink them for years)!

As for the swingathon, let's spray germanator on it and eradicate it completely!

Have a virtual one.

Me too, needing the coffee, and I sign a petition for it. I really hated all of it, and I didn't like the fact that I couldn's see the couples (e.g. Gavin and Katya and Scott and Natalie).

This was a bad idea.
