For my birthday, my family bought me a brand new, sim-free iPhone 4 from the Apple website. It's AN AMAZING DEVICE!

The only problem is, there's a red dot on the screen that won't go away. Whatever it is, it appears to be behind the glass and is visible only when light colours are showing.

I've tried the Pixel Fix For iPhone page (with the flashing colours, said to budge damaged pixels), I've tried formatting and reinstalling the iPhone's software, I've even tried dropping the phone on my bed a couple of hundred times - all without luck.

If I send the phone back to Apple, I know they will send me a reconditioned iPhone 4, which I don't want. Reconditioned = someone else's once faulty phone that's been patched up. I did that once with my 3GS and it ended up being sent back with problems countless times.

One other option (and this is a question to all the Apple whizz kids) - could I send the phone back to Apple and say it's an unwanted Christmas gift? It was bought late October. I heard from somebody that Apple will refund an iPhone if it's out the box, but only with a 10% charge. I haven't as yet found any website that confirms this.

Go to the genius bar in the Apple Store, they will check it like they did with ours, and they gave us a brand new iPhone 4 as long as they can see there is a fault with it.
