Judges should've been wagging their finger at Aliona - not Matt

Well said Sam Weiss - that sums it up perfectly.

Why hasn't Matt spent enough time in the studio?

Because he is running all over the country filming other shows.

It was Matt's choice to make SCD a part-time job.

Also, his lack of training time is why he was so frantic in dancing that Salsa. Trying too hard is a sign of someone not comfortable with what they are attempting to do.

His Tango turned out much better. Tango does suit his personality better than the Cuban derivative dances. I suspect they also practiced it more than the Salsa.”

Unfortunately, there's a rather large hole in your argument ...

Aliona would have known full well how much time she'd have to rehearse with Matt. She devised a routine that consisted of a few salsa steps plus lots of disco madness to a song that is never, in a million years, a salsa track. So why on earth do that?

If the salsa steps he danced were executed badly - as Len pointed out - that is because Aliona failed to correct him on them. She could easily have picked up on this in training.

How much or little time Matt had in training is irrelevant: it's what Aliona taught him to do in that time. She made choices which she must have known would wind the judges up. Some posters are trying to paint her as some kind of dancing heroine, snubbing the judges. Even if you buy that take on it - and I certainly don't - the person who suffered from her shortsightedness and egocentricity was Matt. If she had actually choreographed a salsa instead a weird disco showdance, none of the judges would have reacted in the way they did, Matt would have learned his steps faithfully and would have been spared an awful lot of unnecessary grief.

And I fail to see how even Aliona's staunchest supporters can dispute that.

BTW, I suspect that Aliona may have revised the choreography for their tango overnight after Friday's comments. Although, of course, we will never know ...

[quote=Caramel Crunch;46451652]I've said elsewhere I can't decide if Aliona is too thick or too arrogant to realise she needs to change her choreography.
/QUOTE]

I don't mind people criticising her choreography, but comments like this are just nasty and not necessary!

Aliona is great, so is Matt. They are bound to come in for criticism from the judges now because we are so close to the final and the judges want them to do their best, but theres nowt wrong with Aliona's choreography. Matt was obviously distressed but we all have our moments, especially if we are expecting to win.

Well said. Matt is his own man and there is only so much the pro can do. He screwed up big time in getting himself into a position where he has been so committed to other tv work and it's just bitchy to blame his errors on Aliona. How many male celebs are in the final ?
