Three tens for a dance with a false move in it.

How on earth could Kara get three tens (Len,,Aleesha,,Barmy Bruno) for a dance in which they performed an illegal lift.
It seems these three judges are clueless and very biassed towards Kara and Pam but biassed against Matt.
Kara is a good dancer and doesn't need the boost in scores from these jaundiced judges.

It wasn't an illegal lift. Her foot came off the floor accidentally.

It doesn't matter whether or not it was accidental. If a couple trip up accidently during a performance they will still lose marks so an "ACCIDENTAL" lift cannot possibly be marked perfect and gain ten points.

The only person biased against Matt is Aliona - otherwise why does she keep lumbering him with bad choreography?

Many of the comments the judges made last night go back to that ... what a shame she insists on hindering her own celeb's chances.

I think in Pam's "emotive end of dance performance" last week, one of her eyebrows was higher than the other, so she wasn't worth four tens.

She's probably giving him what he can handle, given the time he cam spend practicing in view of his other commitments, though I can't remember seeing the number of hours training for each competitor being added up and shown on ITT so I've no idea how much he gets.

That's why she's trying to impress the judges by including a "gymnastics floor excercise" in his performances, but it ain't working.

Those three judges said they didn't see it; and they didn't deserve to lose 4 marks for a minor foot coming off the floor moment. She didn't deserve 40 because of it, and so she didn't get 40 because of it.

A minor almost invisible mistake. Mistakes by others are overlooked and forgiven.

Exactly. I don't think it deserve tens when judged on its own. But seeing so many tens flying around this series, like Pam's perfect 40 (with a little wobble, not a lot!) and Scott's scintillating jive (not perfect too, but very, very good), I can't see why they can't be 'generous' with giving Kara tens for her VW.

Gavin's naan hands were overlooked throughout the series. Scott lack of hip movements were only picked up by Craig, I have to say this happens with Strictly all the time unfortunately...

if scott can forget half his dance and get 3 9s, she can accidentally lift her foot off the floor for a nanosecond and get 39!

Exactly!

One must keep a sense of proportion when talking about a TV entertainment show.

Agree that VW IMO was overmarked last night - far too American style and too much open hold for me 9's but not 10's

on the other hand I though Matt was dreadful - terrible Salsa and also thought Scott better than Matt in the Swing too

I loved Kara's VW, preferred it to Pamela's actually.

I think that particular move should just be classed as a lift regardless of whether the lady manages to force her toe to just about brush the floor or not, because it's not as if that one toe is ever taking any of the bodywieght either way. Class it as a lift, then all the pros will just save it for the Smooth and not chance it.

Personally I loved it though and would have been with Len, Alesha and Bruno. It was better than Ali and Brian's VW which got 40 last year as well, Kara is exquisite.

Thanks for this input - it saves me trying to find the thread - 'Four tens for a dance with a false move in it' - that surely must have been started when Pamela got the four in spite of a false move

Exactly!
Several false moves actually.

it wasn't just the false moves - it was the hunched shoulders and stiff neck
8 at best

Good points.
If Pamela got 10s with all her infringements, then Kara should actually have received 11s.
Even Len said the best 2 VWs he'd seen were Alesha'a and Kara's. Why was he dishing out 10s for Pam's then.
It's all so illogical and inconsistent

The three of them need to get their eyes tested.

Yes, Kara/Artem (since he choreographed it) ought to have been dinged one point for it.

One point.

Which is why the total ended up being 39 instead of 40.

To subtract four points from that solid performance would be overly pedantic and picayune.
