I agree. I think when Tess was talking to him he was struggling to hold back the tears as his voice broke, then he was told to dash off and get quickly changed. Maybe would have been better if they had a pro dance before swingathon to give them all a fair chance to recover.

You're spot on. To get rid of this anomaly, Gavin should receive 1 point, not 2*, but it seems that the BBC producers have not a clue about statistics.
(Strictly speaking, Matt and Scott should both receive 2.5 points since the total number of points should be 15, i.e., 1+2+3+4+5, but that's just for the real pedants.)

The BBC clearly wants Pamela in the final and Scott is the easiest of the big 3 for her to overtake. Not long to go to find out whether it has worked out for them/

Is it possible each of 3 dances resulted in ranking points 5,4,3,2,1. Then 3 sets of ranking points are added together to derive the final order: 5,4,3,2,1?
What would be the order from the aforesaid computation?

They changed that after the Tom Chambers semi final. If there's a draw, couples score the higher mark and everyone else is bumped up accordingly.
It's not fair and took out Jimi Mistry, but it does avoid the whole Tom couldn't escape the dance off palava.

I worked it out differently from last week's vote.

Gavin goes through on public vote.
But I wouldn't be surprised if either Scott or Pamela had a surge in voters.
