Evening all, i dont post much and i think this is the first thread i ever started, i normally lurk, interested in others take on the show.

However it seems this forum is getting worse and worse to me, the general bitchiness, snide comments and what appears to be general hate towards contestants, Pro dancers, the hosts..band.....you name it, i sometimes wonder why some even watch the damn thing at all.

I really dont get it it, they are after all just trying to learn to dance, for our entertainment, they arent out there clubbing baby seals or anything.

Some of the names on here given to the contestants, i mean, (yes, looking at you Non appreciation) do they really deserve such nastiness?

As a group this year the celebs and pros do seem to get on really well, supporting and encouraging one another, pity that cannot be replicated here.

It happens every year though towards the end of the series. People start to see who's the threat to their favourites. Unfortunately it's just human nature I'm afraid.

I don't hate anybody, but I do hate feeling manipulated and feeling like celebrities aren't on a level playing field where the scores are concerned. And if I think that's the case, I'll say so. That's what a forum is for - voicing our views.

All the couples work so hard perfecting their routines. Is it too much to ask that they be marked fairly?

Because when you feel like a couple gets an undeserved score, you feel very strongly about it.

I couldn't agree more, all the contestants are behaving far more graciously than many of the forum members in here tonight. The venom directed at Scott and Pam is particulalrly nasty, all of the dancers have worked so hard for our entertainment, and deserve our respect.

I've got to agree with KipsKaz, Johnny Red. It always happens at about this time in the competition.

My advice? Keep out of the non-appreciation thread if you don't like people sounding off - that's what the thread is FOR. And don't respond to things that hack you off - just ignore them. I try to follow my own advice on that one, but often fail!

Then, visit the warm and tranquil room thread, where nobody is nasty to anybody, or the norty step, which is light-hearted banter and nothing to do with Strictly. Then there's 'Musings on a Saturday evening' which is just dead funny, or Strictly Limericks; although the limericks can be nasty, it's more important that they rhyme and scan!

There's something for everyone on here, you know.

I have no idea, to be truthful. I never feel to spout my venom or to be deeply unplaisant about people I don't know. Really unpleasant posts say more about the poster (IMO) than they do about any of the contestants. To be fair, this year we have the unique positiont that most of the celeb dancers are actually good. Some of the rather nasty descriptions of these celebs I read on here, just make me think less of the posters. <shruggs shoulders>

People do get a bit wound up when they perceive injustices and many have favourites.

But it's just a message board, where posters can get things off their chests. Just the process of typing a post and sending it, gives some vent to their feelings. But by tomorrow it will have been forgotten, if it hasn't then they have got a problem.

All posts are just "cyber graffiti" and eventually bleed off every first page.

I don't hate anyone. But I do express annoyance at certain contestants and professionals. Don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to. I think what annoys me more than anything is not being able to criticise a contestant without being labelled jealous or bitter. Like as a woman, it's impossible to say you don't find Angelina Jolie attractive without being called a catty bitch who's just jealous. That kind of behaviour is the real annoyance on these forums. It's very high school and grates week after week.

I agree with you, there is some extremely unjust, nasty, vindictive behaviour on this forum. I do often wonder if some of these people are that spiteful and illogical in real life, or if it's an internet 'road rage' thing, where by, feeling safe in their 'car' some people, who are normally nice in real life, act like total A-holes.

But, you know, some people can be nasty with no rational thought processes. But you can't let the vocal minority cloud your view. For every utterance of vitriol on this forum, there are thousands of lurkers thinking 'you bunch of idiots'. The beauty with this kind of behaviour on a forum is you can take what you want and leave the rest to rot in a cesspool of their own making. People are entitled to their opinions, and just because some do not know how to form a reasoned opinion without resorting to personal attacks, name calling and vindictiveness etc, doesn't mean they are any less entitled to express it... sadly. F*ck 'em, I say, don't let others venom poison ya.

It seems that you're wrong.

The forum "temperature" has stayed pretty constant throughout. Mainly at "tepid" levels, really, at least compared to most forums I frequent.

Some of the names on here given to the contestants, i mean, (yes, looking at you Non appreciation) do they really deserve such nastiness?
Firstly, it's a tradition every year in the NAT to give contestants silly nicknames. And blimey, if you start removing tradition from Strictly, where will it end? You might even see the back of Brucie...

Secondly, "Non appreciation"? Did that not provide some subtle clue? What part of "does what it says on the tin" didn't you get?

As a group this year the celebs and pros do seem to get on really well, supporting and encouraging one another, pity that cannot be replicated here.
I would respectfully suggest that your opinion is misinformed.

I was going to reply to your post to suggest that you should come onto the Non-App thread and ask your question, rather than start a whole new negative thread of your own, but don't think I can be bothered.

I think you'll find I was not nasty or vindictive towards anyone. Indeed, I never targeted anyone specifically. More, I was using adjectives to describe and comment on the extreme negative and personally attacking behaviour that can be found on this forum – as in, I was relating my experiences to the OP, do you understand this?

I have seen some rather hateful stuff said (as well as considerably more positive stuff). I was expressing my distaste for vindictiveness, and not spouting 'venom', as I saw the OP was rather disenfranchised with some of the behaviour on this forum. I was not nasty towards anyone personally. Therefore I fail to see your irony. Quoting out of context was neither warranted or particularly helpful. Anything you saw relating those two quotes is down your perception and lack there of. I can assure you, what you imply in your post and quotes was NOT my intention.

This. I've never understood why people cannot say why they didn't like someone's dance instead of simply going X Y or Z is shit and Z Y or X is better.

If you're going to slag someone off at least have a valid reason not just because you think they're a threat to whoever is your favourite.
All five of the people left in the competition have their good and bad points and all five are capable of pulling off lovely dance routines and all five are capable of utterly stuffing it up.

Whoever is the best will be whoever most impresses the people willing to pick up the phone and pay for them on the night of the final. It might not be your (collective not specific) favourite but that doesn't automatically mean they didn't deserve to win.

Each person sees a different thing in each of the final competitors and to simply slag off those who aren't your (again the collective your) favourite just smacks of sour grapes.

Saying I didn't like Pamela because I didn't find she moved well during whatever dance is one thing but saying I hate Scott because he's a crap actor (both obviously just examples of things I've seen) is just a little bit sad really.

Yes Sid, but expressing what you perceive as an unfairness is totally different than when someone just slags off another competitor.
The judges have had their favourites in every single series of SCD and it's never made a difference to the final.

Again though, there's a vast difference with the posts I've seen you make where you express a reason for why you don't like a specific dance a celebrity has done and someone who says Pamela is old and fat, or Scott's ugly or Matt Baker's a crap presenter etc ad nauseum, which is the sort of thing I have seen.

We have had good contestants this year - quite a lot of characters that people can have strong feelings about.

Maybe Tina could have been a contender with another pro, but apart from her, the top 4 deserved to and got to the semi-final.

Bit of panic sets in at this stage every year.

Then why go on that thread, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Bollocks. Venom is in your perception, most of the posters on the non-app enjoy themselves and enjoy taking the p*ss out of a bunch of wannabe z-listed celebs.

That's funny, no, not me I'm never vindictive or hateful - it's the other buggars. Help someone drag me out of this cess pit before I sink.

I may have to non-appreciate this

Granted but that hasn't stopped certain people from making me the subject of abuse and name-calling and while ineffectual, it's still annoying.
