I have never seen such an interesting and watchable Vienese Waltz before. it was balletic. Ditto Rhumba. The guy shows what can be done with choreography.

An amazing choreographer, one of the most superb (ballroom) dancers I've ever watched and a man who never feels like he has to pump his own ego, throw hissy fit, get petulant or show off.

In the often petty, bitchy world of dance - from ballet to ballroom -that takes real character, and a very strong sense of who you are.

Artem knows precisely who he is

SCD are lucky they got him.

I like Artem and Kara together, and no doubt everyone wants them to have a romance after the series. I hope things work out.

There were probably threads on this which I missed but I didnt realise that Artem was married before - to a dancer, video below when they tried out for SYTYCD..he looks very young, but good

I think I can safely say that that was for a green card!

Artem is great. One of the best choreographers Strictly has seen over the years; with Darren, Lilia, Karen, Ola & Ian. Just outstanding. But we also have to admit that Kara turned out to be the perfect partner for him. I mean that girl sees a move and does it within several tries. As he mentioned she is a natural and just gets what he and his creative mind are about. I mean those Salsa flip overs were life threatningly dangerous and even went pants in rehearsals. But because of the trust between them somehow it looked effortless.

So yes all applause for the Russian Hunk, must be back next year

Spoiler

Naaah, they're beautiful! And they're still married after years with their partners.

I was being slightly teasing. She might be a lovely girl though!

I said this somewhere else, but Artem managed to choreograph a rumba that was romantic and sexy, without being the rumba-porn favoured by the Jordans. I cannot believe the Beeb won't want him next year...but then, I can't believe they got rid of Mr Cutler and Mr Waite.

Surely a returning finalist is more or less assured the next series.

Artem has been a class act from the outset. Quite apart from his dancing and choreography, he has behaved very well. No fawning, no fun fun FUN! celebrity love-in in their VTs and a dignified approach to a lot of rumour (though silence would have been better imo).

I loved the fact he has always stepped back to let kara take the applause. I love the fact that he listens attentively to the judges, Tess and Claudia, but says very little; he doesn't give a lot away, but you can see he's no idiot behind those eyes. And I love the fact that, when, in the Tesspit, Kara was asked about whether or not she did lift her foot off the ground last week, whilst she hesitantly dissembled a little and said she didn't know, he said outright that she did, and said it was his fault.

Fact he has a stunning physique doesn't do any harm, of course, but it's the way he behaves that makes him that little bit special.
Great post, I especially loved the VT on ITT about him being a bit of a terminator lol his reaction was priceless and him apologising for slouching was sweet too

He is for sure my favourite, what I love most about their routines are that there aren't gimmick centred and yesterdays Rumba was fantasic very romantic without it being sleazy

Great addition to the team

Have they said they don't want him for next year??

I think he's proved himself to be an amazing choreographer this year, but the one good thing if he doesn't come back is that he'll never get paired with anyone bad: all we'll have is him & Kara to go on and remember. I said the same when Brian Fortuna wasn't brought back this series - at least it means everyone remembers the routines he & Ali did!

I see your point. Can you imagine if next September we see him paired with someone Widdi-like? It would break my heart.

Not as far as I know. But you know what they're like with their 'changes'.

Artem's choreography is about the best I've seen on Strictly.

Question is - will he want to come back next year? Works two ways.
If he does want to, then the BBC had better make less of a cake of his VISA/work permit.
If he doesn't, we'll presume the money's better elsewhere.
Taken hour for hour, the pay for the pro dancers compared to what the celebs, judges and presenters get, is appallingly low.

(And I hope Nicole Cutler's famous exposé has led to better changing room conditions backstage.
But knowing the Beeb, I doubt this.)

Would be absolutely delighted to see him installed as a regular Strictly pro.

I'm totally in love with artem this year
love the fact that he's not all smily nicey - he has a bit of strop about him
love it
er. what show are you watching as it obviously isn't the same one as the rest of us?

Artem has one facial expression, even when he "apparently" strategically hurt his shoulder....

If anyone genuinely has any a pic of anything other than his 24/7 permanent gurn, please post it to prove the rest of us wrong.

Kind of smirking

Not totally gorgeous, no way.

I'm ready to pass out

Tough work finding pictures of Artem.

Anyway, back on topic. I usually dismiss the VW as sappy and 'wafty' but it's now one of my favourite Strictly dances.

Oh for heaven's sake! 'The rest of us' includes ME, as well as loads of other Artem fans, so don't you dare speak for 'the rest of us'!

I really must remember the mantra - 'don't feed the trolls'.

I feel your pain, trevvytrev, so it's only fair that I help you with your research. It's hard work but somebody's got to do it. I mean, I had to search through hundreds of pictures where this gorgeous, talented man was inexplicably smiling, just to find some where he is looking a tad more serious.

You don't have to look at the following, but think of it as aversion therapy.
