i was !.
craig is just being so picky !!!, kara's rumba was the best rumba we have ever seen, the only thing that ever came close to it was rachel's. and then pamela got a perfect 40 when she danced her dance no where near as good ! |

No, not horrified as it wasn't perfect and according to the judges Kara has to be perfect.
Yes, horrified that a below par quickstep was given 40, but then Pamela is scored differently to everyone except may be Scott. |

I was more horrified that Pamela scored higher that Kara ,when it was a less than gracefull quickstep .

Only in comparison to the other dances on the night. I don't think it was the best rumba ever - Rachel's was better (and I prefer Kara to Rachel overall).

Nope not horrified, she had a little balance stumble that I expected Craig to pick up on. Was surprised he went for liftgate the sequel when it was a very unintentional "leave the floor" moment.

Horrified is a bit strong.
Dispappointed, but not surprised but it is still the best rumba I have ever seen. It's the only one I have watched where I didn't have a cushion to hide behind. ![]() ![]() I don't think I was even surprised but the horror was Pamela getting a 40 for THAT. ![]() I'm sat here this morning still trying to work out how that happened. She could have got 36 and I still would have said she was horribly overmarked. |

She had a couple of "weight adjustments" I noticed, but I've seen some professionals do the same in a show dance.
I've no argument with her score. I expected Craig to give her a nine. But with Pam, no way was she worth her score. It was very safe and uninspiring choreography. No problem with that, but using the same logic, Craig would have given her a ten had it been the hokey-cokey. |

Will be interested to see what Karen has to say about liftgate as she is a current professional judge.

I WAS horrified by the panel going 'the full Snowdon' on Pamela's laboured quickstep however |

If I was honest I wouldn't say it deserved a 10 let alone 4, but then again, by standard neither did Matt and Pamela didn't deserve a 9, let alone any single 10.
By "strictly logic" the 39 was probably right, although seeing as Craig is penalising the lifts (as well he should) I don't understand why he didn't mention anything about all the lifts which Matt did in the Salsa (the combination of which made up like a quarter of the dance). |

I was really disappointed, by both the marks and by Craig, who I normally respect.
It wasn't perfect, so from Craig a 9 was acceptable, until he gave a 10 to Pam, who most definitely was not perfect either, and was no where near as good as Kara. Are the judges scared of Billy Connelly?

No, because there was a lift and she did make a slight but noticable error at one point. It was beautiful, but it wasn't perfect. Neither was Pamela's QS though, there shouldn't have been a perfect score at all last night. Quote:

I'm disappointed, but I have different criteria to Craig. I don't believe a dance has to be perfect to get a top mark. I'd prefer a celeb to deliver a difficult routine and execute it perfectly apart from maybe one or two mistakes, than to do a basic routine perfectly.
So Kara gets a ten from me - even though I didn't like the first few seconds, her foot left the floor (again), and there were a couple of unsteady moments - because the rest of the routine was excellent and was far more difficult and well-executed than other celebs. The only person I think did a better rumba than her was Rachel, but Rachel's choreography was not as advanced as Kara's so I mark them both a ten. |

I am not horrified because I could see him picking up one or too minor issues with Kara's Rumba. But I have rewatched Pamela's 40s dances and... the point is is she got them why not Kara? Pamela Quickstep, in my opinion, lacked the intensity and the vibrancy required for 40s.
So not horrified that Kara didn't get the 40, horrified that Pamela did. But I am not a professional judge, so what do I know. |

I wasn't horrified, I expected it lol. Kara is held to much higher standards than the rest unfortunately. So no I wasn't horrified. I just think it's slightly unfair but then, so has most of her marking been over the course of the series. It's not big deal though. Good scores are nice but I'm more than satisfied by her dancing. I no longer crave the 10s for her.
I think Rachel's rumba was softer but Kara's was more professional, if that makes sense. I prefer Kara's if only because I mistook her for a pro in certain sections of it. With Rachel, she only ever looked like a very talented amateur. |

Dissapointed but not horrified.
In my book she should have got 5 lots of perfect scores already American Smooth, AT, Tango, VW and Rumba |

I wasn't bothered by Kara not getting 40 for her rumba. The judges need to be allowed some discretion, and I'm not going to have a hissy fit if one judge decides to give a dance one more point or one less point than all of the others.
I think Craig is nit-picking Kara because he thinks she can perform a technically demanding dance perfectly and doesn't want her to settle for less than that. So he won't give her a 10 until she does, which is a compliment of sorts, and one I can live with. However, his participation in the over-marking for that QS beggars belief. 35 points (8+9+9+9) would have been generous. |

Very dissapointed, somehow knew she wouldn't get the 40. If she's in the final she'll get one for her showdance perhaps? Artem is the best dance partner any girl can have, I just love the way he stands to the side and joins her 'standing' ovations.

This. It's just a shame that Pamela will be seen by the GBP as the top scorer and be considered to be the best dancer - which isn't true.

I didnt think the rumba deserved full marks. It didnt move me as much as I thought it would and I thought it was a bit too fast and twirly for a rumba.
Having said that, it definately should have scored more than the quickstep - at least Kara had style and grace and a dress that wasnt made out of pink bin liners. |

I wasn't terribly disappointed - I'd have given it a ten in a heartbeat, but I'm not a judge, so what do I know? What hasn't been mentioned is that Matt & Aliona did a very similar move in their tango to the one Kara & Artem did in the VW and which got a slating from Craig because one foot came off the floor. Well, Aliona's foot came off the floor in their dance, too, but nobody mentioned it. For me, it was no big deal, just a nano-second off the floor, as was Kara's foot in the VW and rumba. I'm not even going to go there re the perfect score for Pamela's leaden quickstep ![]() ![]() So it's just the inconsistencies and double standards from the judges that make me peeved: in other words, just the normal Strictly experience. |
