Deadenders does it again. A real ratings booster of a storyline. Sensational, never been seen before on British TV. Ground breaking must watch drama ----- ------ ----- NOT

Haven't Emmerdale already done this as well? The new family (he was a doctor possibly) and their 13 year old daughter who was found to be pregnant, by the older sister's boyfriend, just after they arrived. Little baby girl called Geri, if I remember correctly.

Wow, Berridge really is on fire, isn't she?

Dear oh dear.

Sorry, what was that about the BBC having to be 'ahead of the game' and no longer wishing to 'cynically chase ratings'? The Beeb must think we're idiots.

I'm falling asleep just thinking about it?
I wonder what would happen if LB actually came up with an original idea? as in one she has thought up all by herself and not swiped from other more talanted producers.

Is it just me or does this new family, from what's been reported, have a very heavy whiff of 'The Dingles' about them?

Grrr they've made such a mistake with Mickey's family

What they should have done is made them a family who have just moved up from a council estate and are thinking they're really making it in life. The dad would be a mechanic or a lorry driver or something like that, and the mum would be a hairdresser, landing a job in SophistiKates. There would be two sisters; one older than Mickey, also a hairdresser after leaving school at sixteen, and one younger, who is fifteen. The older one is a bit of a slapper, a teenage/early 20s Kat Slater, who has a brief fling with a returned Robbie Fowler, while the younger one becomes involved with Spencer Moon, and she tells him she is sixteen so that Spencer will sleep with her...but then she gets pregnant, and Spencer is arrested for sleeping with a minor. Meanwhile, the parents; who are one of soaps strongest marriages; and never have affairs or anything like that, but are divided over their youngest daughter's predicament. While the mum knows that her daughter is lying and has over the years realized that her daughter is a scheming brat, the dad refuses to believe his 'little princess' would do anything of the sort. The dad beats Spencer up in the Vic, only for Alfie to step in, and then Mickey gets involved, causing all four men to end up in hospital. The mum forces the younger daughter to confess all to the police, and all charges against Spencer are dropped, but there still is the question of the baby.

Meanwhile, the older sister has dumped Robbie and moved on to Dennis, causing her to make an enemy in the form of Zoe Slater. But then Dennis realizes he loves Sharon and dumps her, causing the sister to team up with Zoe as they plot to get revenge. And voila! Sharon gets a stalker, and it is made out to be the two girls to the viewers until a shock twist occurs; the stalker is Grant Mitchell!

Blurrrgh

This is rubbish, not only has it "been done before" but it is being done in such a way that we will simply not give a toss about the family.

She'll be 7 months gone when she moves to Albert Square?

This is just another issue-led storyline with no real depth. We don't know who this family is, OK they're related to Mickey but that's it. EastEnders are bringing in this family just to deal with a teenage pregnancy story. So before we know anything about the family, all we know that this is it, this is their one story, and then they're gone from our screens. (Although with EE's track record they'll be kept on with even more rubbish storylines). Storylines like this have nothing to do with the characters, they're just creating a sensational storyline involving characters that are only useful for that particular story.

Think about Corrie's teenage pregnancy story. Viewers will have no doubt been more shocked and cared more about the characters because we knew who they were and knew their history. Even Michelle Fowler getting pregnant at 16 by Den Watss had more shock-factor than this storyline seems to...

Exactly, I was just thinking that. Another issue led storyline forced upon a character who we know nothing about and don't even care about. How can we be shocked for a character we've never met? If they were going to do a teen pregnancy storyline they should have had the balls to go the whole way and let it develop. Introduce the girl, let us see her become involved with a guy and lead up to the time she gets pregnant. I think that has more shock factor. And theres a "story" there. Not just incident, oh a girl arrives in Albert Square pregnant, uhmm Incident! not storyline, as she's come from nowhere, we don't know her, we don't care about the bloody characters we already know at present, what makes them think we'll care about this one?

The reason why Corrie's teen pregnancy had genuine shock factor was because Sarah Louise Platt had been developed from just a child on set, sitting at the table, to a young teen, the character had been around for years and we were all like omg she's pregnant at 13! I know I said I wouldn't slag off the new family til they arrived but they're doing it again, introducing characters for the purpose of a sensational storyline, instead of it being the other way around, an the storyline happening as a result of the character.

I'm just thinking, what does EastEnders have to do for us all to like it again? It seems every move they make lately is the wrong move and oh its just ruining the soap even more lol

I just e-mailed Berridge:

Okay, you've proven your point, and achieevd what you set out to do - RUIN EASTENDERS. Eastenders is in it's worst state in its 19 year history; it couldn't get any lower than it is right now. PLEASE QUIT AND LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE OVER! PLEASE!

The chacters are pointless, the actors can't act (Chris Parker anyone? HOW THE HELL DID HE GET A JOB!????), the Ferrairas are a pile of shite....... yet you think moving Mickey's family in will boost ratings - DREAM ON!!!! No wonder Steve McFadden ain't returning, and Letitia Dean quit while she was ahead.

Look at your publicity too - Charlier Brooks hosts a pool side orgy, Elaine Lordan is drunk every day on set, Leslie Grantham indulges in web sex, Jessie Wallace slags off her co-stars...........

The show is a disaster, a laughing stock, an embarassment...... 6.3m viewers, and you blame the weather!!!

By the way, sensationalism doesn't work when no-one cares about the characters..... didn't the fate of Night and Day and Brookside teach you anything??

Hold on! Can I just go OT to ask - Steve McFadden not coming back?? Really?

Back to the plot, yes this family sound completely unappetising and not in a good way. I don't care for either the Dingles or Battersbies who they resemble, Micky ought to be frogmarched out of the square never to return, not get a whole bunch of halfwit family members to bore us with.

And I agree that introducing the sister already 7 months preg is a really poor idea. It's the Ferreiras kidneys all over again. When they introduced the Jacksons they didn't arrive with the burden of any huge issues, they were allowed to develop naturally and got their more sensational storylines (Bianca/Carol/Dan) as a result of character, not issues.
