Pointless thread. It lasted past the last one did it not?

The linear and Anytime service may be close to an end as it offers little but Sky Sports 1, 2 and ESPN will be around for years to come. Hopefully with more premium channels added too!

AFAIK the Top Up TV website doesn't offer a PVR anymore, at least I can't find 1 to purchase from their website, so it does at the moment look like they are doing away with their night-time service and selling normal dtt-stbs for sky sports / espn.

Would make sense as most of it can be found on Freeview anyway.

Perhaps once they ditch it GOLD will join Freeview on Dave's plus one slot?

That would leave the GOLD stream so they could offer ESPN America in the view to either getting Sky Sports 3 later or ESPN 2. If C5 want it back they may find use for it as Big Brother streaming like C4 use to do?

It was done away with because channel 5 wanted 2 of the streams back to launch five life and five us

Of course those 2 channels now have a different name.

Because as part of the capital injection deal by Five (worth £20 million) to keep them going, Top Up TV had to forfeit two linear channels to Five in return for Five's own use.

I got the distinct impression that TUTV were bounced by Five into launcing Anytime before TUTV wanted to hence the unresolved issues with the Anytime PVRs when they came out.

Not 1 of those boxes are a PVR.

The I can is a hd box without hard drive but networking capabilities if you where looking at that box, the other box is a standard box with a card slot.

Even if they were one would think they would sell PVR's as most people buying new set top boxes will want the ability to record programmes.

Linear for maybe premium services like SS and ESPN as they can tie up with BT Vision but The i-CAN is internet connectable so perhaps an IPTV delivered service is on the cards? Picturebox has said something about there being a tie up with PictureBox player with TV partners.

...particularly when you consider that they've got costs of 38 million euros (£33.6 million), debts of 23 million euros (£20.3 million) and ongoing losses of 21 million euros (£16.8 million).

A horror show set of accounts like that would have had many other companies shut down or in administration at the very least.
