How (why) was Matt saved?

Lucky boy Matt with an awful salsa and nothing else of note in the semi he was rightly marked into the bottom two but saved by the public vote to go through to the final

Marked on semi performance only he should have gone but you have to think that his media coverage has built his public vote enough to drag him into the final

Scott outdanced Matt in the semi and can count himself hard done by to have a dip in form earlier

Jesus wants him for a sunbeam?

Scott was dire in the semi final, and he was my second favourite.

In all honesty I think the semi produced some of Matt's worst dancing, but that was still streets ahead of Gavin and therefore Matt does deserve to be in the final.

At this stage, I think all of their dances should be taken into account. Neither of Scott's dances this weekend were brilliant, and Matt has been much more consistent overall. One bad dance shouldn't be held against a contestant.

I don't think that's why Matt was saved though; I think he's been one of the most popular celebs since the start of the series.

To me, Matt was better than both Scott and Gavin, therefore totally deserves to be in the final.

Personally, I'd like to have seen Scott and Matt both in the final.

Matt has been more reliable but Scott had wowed more frequently.

Never mind.

In truth, the one who was saved was Pamela by virtue of the marks she received.

Class!

The salsa was dire but was more than made up for by the Tango which I loved and would have loved even more without that liftology thingy added.

He got more votes than Scott and Gavin.

I'm a Matt fan so slightly biased, but Gavin was not as good as the other four (lovely bloke though he is)and Scott has underwhelmed me recently, which is a shame as he started so well and his jive was a joy to watch.

But despite Matt's wobble on Friday, I thought his Tango was fantastic and lobbed quite a few votes his way

I think he has only wowed me twice, with his VW and his jive; his other performances haven't been nearly as good. Scott's Samba, AS and Rumba were all very poor IMO. His Charleston was a bit underwhelming too.

Not his QS, his salsa, his Tango? All very very very good!

Because he deserves to be there!! Although, I'd have quite liked Scott to be there too.

His QS and Tango were good for me, but not outstanding. His Salsa was a bit gimmicky. I hated the song, which didn't help!

Because he outclassed Scott in the semi? His Salsa wasn't great but had great moments and his Tango was fantastic. Scott had potential, had some great dances but had lost energy and the wow factor.

I don't think Scott has recovered with the public after being grossly overmarked for his American Smooth.

Bottom 3 actually, Matt was on the same score as Scott. Basically he's in the final because the public preferred him to Scott. Scott could be brilliant, but he could also be rubbish. The public clearly decided not to gamble that he would bring brilliant to the final showdance rather than rubbish. They preferred to go with Matt's consistency.

His samba or was it salsa? was bad but the tango was brilliant and was undermarked. I think the judges have something against him to be honest.

Scott was awful in both dances (compared to his usual standard) and Gavin should have gone a while back. Matt deserved his place

Because he's currently BBc's golden boy?

Was he definitely in the bottom 3, or was it done in a random order?

But why was it so poor?

He seemed to do what he had been told so I don't feel the blame is entirely with him.

He out-danced Scott and Gavin. Simple as....

I think Matt dances by numbers and he has no real concept of what looks good. Scott largely dances for the audience and that is one of Pam's biggest strengths. I think Matt just dances to get it over and done with. His performance level is pretty bad.

Aliona's choreography/teaching certainly isn't helping him though. She was shocked that his Salsa was slated, which is quite shocking in itself.

He was definitely tied third on the judges leaderboard with Scott. We have no idea how the public voted.

And to those that  keep harping on about him being 'BBC's Golden Boy', it was the public that put him through to the final.
