I liked Matt's honesty about the campaign. He would be more upset if it was a song he had written himself, but he won't be that upset if he misses out.

On our local news they are interviewing disappointed One Direction fans.

Well at least Biffy are likely going to get paid for it's use so they shouldn't complain. Infact they should be appreciative for further exposure. It may take away from their own version of the song, but it doesn't diminish their songwriting ability.
I don't think the band have actively spoken out about it. Could be wrong, may have to do some digging to find out.

So glad Matt won. I kept saying to myself being in the final four was enough but I was lying.

He's just been so adorable in all his interviews today - utterly charming, witty and clued up. I love listening to him talk as well as sing. Good times.

Oh I doubt very much they will mind. I just see this 'they need permission' thing being bandied about a lot and I've always thought it was false.

Thinking back, anyone remember those Top Of The Pops albums from the 70 and early 80s? On Hallmark, I think. I'm not sure, I was like 5!

They were like Now That's What I Call Music, but they didn't have any of the original versions on. They had session musicians make facsimilies of the proper hits, with (sometimes very bad) soundalike singers, so they could be put out cheaply. Song writer royalties would need be paid, but royalties to the performers would not.

It still goes on to a certain extent with albums called 'Tribute to Abba' or something (usually with the 'Tribute to' in very small lettering in the hope people won't realise it's not actually Abba)

Anyway, I'm rambling on!

Mita the only thing good that came from that terrible Matt's press covering during the whole x factor was that it was a crashing course of how to work with the press lol

And he seemed extraordinarily sensible and level about his position and people's opinions of XF, and about how the single might be taken in some quarters. Amazing on two-hours' sleep! The single is overproduced in the chorus (of course) but it really is decent enough and a proper good song. I'm glad he's got something he can be proud of to get him off on his way. His plea for just taking the single for what it is and not dismissing it basically for having come out of XF was well-judged, and also the thoughts about wanting to be with a band for the buzz and the joy of sharing it. He says the right things through having the right kind of head and spirit. Bet Cowell will be pleased with this ambassador for XF.

I like how each interview was different in style -- even though he was giving largely the same info but they were different in the way he related to the audience/interviewers. Very savvy, as you say. I get the impression Lorraine didn't mind at all being called 'sweetheart' by him. More than anything, it's refreshing to hear him talking and not to have our view filtered through XF vids and tabloids. He just sounds like he did at the beginning, and nothing like the sex-starved ranting monster we've been sold for these ten weeks.

Procedural question: can we continue posting in this forum? Do we move to 'Music'? Can we create a thread specifically for diary dates, cos otherwise (the way WE gab ) it'll be crazy?

Can't stop playing When We Collide. I really hope people buy this single, make him have the Xmas Number 1! Buy it for friends for Christmas! ANYTHING! Just ordered mine from Amazon, as well as buying it from iTunes So glad he is number 1 on their, let's hope it stays that way!

His interviewing skills are so lovely. Simple but gorgeous and charming. Loved him. Can't wait to hear the rest of his interviews and hear him sing on TOTP Xmas special.

Most friends are literally chuffed that he won! Some are a bit disappointed with the winners single and how it was all changed. But, knowing how it was before makes me positive that Matt will have the upmost say in his album! Just pre ordered that too! Still WE NEED to get Matt to number 1! Don't let everyone take it away from him.

Can not WAIT for the X Factor tour now! Been so much fun chatting on here and supporting Matt, i just want to say a massive thank you to everyone that made it enjoyable! Even though sometimes we had disagreements.... Matt did us proud! I'm so happy. He has made the XF worth watching all over again, no one will be able to replace him. He is my favourite contestant to date! Ever, and always will be.

Thank you to Ali i think without him i wouldn't have been this obsessed. He made it fun with all the clues and i hope you tell Matt that he deserved it and that we all love him! BUT and a very big but indeed, we all love you too Ali My favourite bongo man!

I still want Matt to paint my shed... so bad.

Last 3 weeks have been tough.

I did think that Rebecca would sneak it - the Sweet Dreams track was her salvation after Saturday and Matts at times croaky voice may have phased a few casual viewers.

I think Matt needs to be really thankful he had loads of credit in the bank due to Bootcamp and earlier weeks of the show - that paid dividends last night. I also think it was beneficial for him to go first.

Loads of people on twitter tried to get through to his number, so lines were engaged - thankfully being first on , the had more time to try.

He's great at the media stuff - really honest no BS. On This Morning he talked about being a perfectionist re performance - it's never perfect, so that means he's always striving to do better.

I am so happy he's not being forced to sing just to promote the single - shows sense prevailing and they aren't too worried.

I am sure they pre-record Xmas TOTP later this week or early next, I hope his voice holds out.
