The Metro is in Central Station. Don't jump on the one for Sunderland as you will have to make a change at Heworth. Take it to South Shields. South Shields is the end of the line so you will not miss your stop.
You will get out on King Street. Head east (or ask someone) and you will find yourself on Ocean Road which heads straight to the sea. You can't miss it. Popular for Indian Restaurants and the famous Colman Fish and Chips Shop.
At the end of Ocean Road you will see Marine Park, with its lake and paddle boats, to your right. The seafront with the fun park is more or less in front of that. Keep going right along the seafront road and the next park along from Marine Park is Bents. The entrance is more or less opposite Minchella's Cafe. If there is a queue, I suggest you join it, as early as possible.
There are other entrances into Bents Park, but I don't want to confuse you.
