I find them generally all disappointing they just don't live up to the hype.

My both favourite and least favourite EVER is sponsored by bacofoil Lisa and Brendan’s show dance.

For many reasons this dance is my favourite.....I mean really go and watch it 'cos you forget how terrible it is......but my favourite because of how smug they were on ITT and talked about the most brilliant showdance ever. This was after Lisa had felt the need to technically critique one of Austin’s dances.

But my least favourite because it was/is just so awful!

It did win.

If you stay around after the series ends, there are loads of competition and poll threads on here!

Favourite
1. Tom & Camilla - By miles. Made me pick up the phone for the first time that year and still makes me smile when thinking about it. It was the first time I appreciated how good a choreographer Camilla was too.

2. Alesha & Matt -
It all worked. As the song said, she was looking for a hero and danced as if her life depended on it. They hit every important moment in the lyrics dead on - amazing choreography by Matt C. That opening moment when she lifts up the hem of her costume still gives me goosebumps now.

3. Mark & Karen - Not the best danced, but the end of a fabulous journey for this couple. The song is one of my favourites and is a great show dance choice. The joy in that performance jumps out at me.

Worst

1. Lisa & Brendan - By miles. I can't find the words to express how I feel about the arrogance of attempting a routine like that, especially after the previous week's performance by Show dance Champions Craig Smith and Natalie Woolf.

2. Colin & Erin - Such a let down, such a shame.

This year -

Pamela & James - James has been extremely clever with his choreography so far, so I expect that with Ola's input, we will see a fabulous show dance. I hope that they go for a Fred and Ginger style routine, but I suspect it will be more along the comedic road.

Matt & Aliona - I think Aliona will go into overdrive with OTT choreography that will either be a complete disaster or an absolute triumph. For Matt's sake I hope it is the latter.

Kara & Artem - Artem is such a fabulous choreographer and Kara is such a great dancer that I expect to be totally WOWed by them.

The winner will be the couple who get everything right - the music or song choice, the costumes and the performance - I am so glad haven't got a clue who that will be!

All time favourite has to be Matt & Flavia - LOVED that one! I also remember it for having possibly one of the longest (non-prompted ) standing ovations ever on SCD.

Also enjoyed Tom & Camilla and Chris & Ola.

But a lot of the others I honestly can't remember!

Enjoyed Matt and Flavia's showdance (though I speak as a Alesha supporter), and Tom Chamber's!

Truly dislike Lisa's turkey dance. Argh. Didn't live long enough to witness Colin's showdance live.

Interesting thread.

In my opinion what makes a good show dance is:
Playing to the strengths of the celeb
Reminding the audience of the progress the celeb, with maybe a nod to some of their best previous dances
Music/choreogaphy that has oomph and dynamism

What makes a bad show dance is:
Over emphasis on lifts
Corresponding lack of interesting floor choreography
Costumes that make your eyes bleed (LEOTARDS ARE A BAD IDEA, PEOPLE!)

By this token, I would say that my favourites were:
Alesha's - tonnes of content, really dynamic, loved their relationship
Tom's - really fresh approach, lots of content, suited him perfectly
Chris's - suited them, reminded me that he'd actually learnt a lot, took me by surprise

And the ones I didn't like:
Ricky's - Too many lifts which did nothing for me, too much faffing around at the top end, took ages to get started.
Rachel's - I think she had her feet off the ground for about a third of the routine, and the non-lift stuff was a bit lame and too basic.
Colin's - what a waste! I had really wanted Colin or Zoe to win, but after that show dance I didn't vote and when Darren won I thought, 'Fair play to him'.

Oh, and then there was bacofoilgate. My therapist has recommended I don't think about that any further.

I think the show dance can really make or break it. I hope they have chosen well. My hope are that:
- Artem doesn't get carried away with lifts (I am a bit worried about that after the costume was revealed)
- Aliona doesn't go too leftfield and thinks about Matt rather than her own quirks
- Pamela and James don't dance to what I've heard rumours they're dancing to. If the rumour is right I'm very disappointed.
