Annual I think, with Argos as far as I'm aware (It's under my name but my mum set it up when we got Winnie last year)

Lifetime - Pet Plan.
Both my mum and my sister had annual policies and ended up paying out a lots in vets bills when their dogs developed life long illnesses, so I'm taking no chances.

I have always had lifetime insurance for my cats, but this afternoon I posted a letter cancelling it. It has become prohibitively expensive. £21 a month for my 9 year old, plus an excess of £75 and a fee contribution of 15% - just not worth it any longer.

I have a lifetime insurance policy for my dog. It's with Pet Plan and costs a fortune but it's worth it. Earlier this year, I claimed £2200 when he had an operation.

I had a Tesco annual insurance with my last dog, but it would only pay for 12 months on one condition, and I spent a fortune on treatment which wasn't covered.

This time with my new pup I am on Lifetime, cheaper than Tesco, and is with MoreThan, reason being my first dog was a Cavalier KC, this time it's a Crossbreed (Cav x Bichon Frise)

I have lifetime cover for my cat with Axa. My old cat was covered by More Than and had a long term health condition. It did get expensive and was £25 a month when she died. That said though she had been on medication for 4 yrs which as Im on sickness pay I would have had trouble paying

No insurance here since they refused to pay out for allergies claiming we must have known when we got Duncan.

Direct Line. They paid out thousands when she had her eye op but the premiums rocketed and then no-one else would insure her cos of the eye problems so we have had to stick with them.

I have two cats under the Tesco pet insurance and pay a total of £25 for them which covers vets fees up to £4000.

I voted annual - I assumed that annual meant paying premiums annually and lifetime meant a one-off payment.

Now I am confused after reading other posts here.

My cat is insured with Animal Friends. They donate large amounts from their profits to animal welfare charities. They insure pets of any age - even new pets. Please consider them if you are insuring a pet for the first time.

The difference between annual and lifetime is that if the animal gets a long-term illness that requires treatment over a period of years the insurance company can't exclude it from the following year's policy. With an annual policy they can exclude any illness or ailment that will incur payouts.

What they can do however with a lifetime policy is raise the premium when it's renewal time!!

I have chosen to go with Direct Line's annual policy. It's £10.50 a month so not too bad and they cover up to around four grand so that should do it.

Hopefully I'll never have to claim.

I've got a lifetime policy but with a maximum claim of £4000 per condition, hard to believe but it wouldn't take long to rack up that kind of money on an illness.

Lifetime with PetPlan .

It's worth paying the extra !!

Seal b has just posted this message in another thread,

"I had insurance with Tesco but once my dog got to 11, they stopped taking insuring him and didn't even contact me. Put off getting his insurance done again and in the end it was a really bad mistake. I won't make the same error with my new dog! "

The cat's got a Premier lifetime policy with Marks and Spencer. I paid a bit extra but it's nice to have the peace of mind of not having to pay out hundreds should anything happen. I don't think the premium was that bad either, it was £80 odd for the year.

I've got a Marks and Spencer lifetime for Mani, it pays up to £7000 which hopefully I'll never need but it's good to know it's there.

I've just got 2 more kittens so hopefully M & S will do a discount for 3

Lifetime, with Admiral. Both my Yorkies are covered for £5000 per condition for what I think is a reasonable cost
(£30 for the two). I haven't had to claim and, as said previously, hope I never have to. I have just changed over from More Than who have good monthly premiums, but don't have a true lifetime policy plus you have to pay 10% of the vet bill over and above the excess. Maybe I am being over protective, but feel more comfortable paying a little extra a month.

We've just got a cat and I was wondering whether pet insurance is actually worth it?
