Can I ask why the votes are done by PM?

Usually with this kind of thing the votes are just posted in the thread? I only ask because often someone else's post jogs my memory.

A good excuse to reread John's musings methinks. Not that I really need an excuse.

I like the PMing - it stops you 'cheating' and using other people's memories rather than thinking about it independently Plus it makes it easier to wade through.

When are the nominations closing on Saturday? I'd really like to see the final before I commit. I was going to vote but then remembered that the best and worst may yet be to come.

Well, their loss! I really don't think it matters how the votes come in - that was just my opinion innit

Of course! People do like to see what others think though and if would be a shame if that affected the number of people who vote. Usually threads like these are very well supported. I've just quickly searched for "awards" in the thread title and spotted the awards thread for 2008. It got over 160 posts and over 8500 views and the results thread got over 150 posts and over 7500 views. Numbers do make a difference when it comes to votes.
