4 Music - UK Hot 40
Apprentice 2 SA
15-12-2010
I never know where to post on DS about the charts. I'll try here and if anyone knows better let me know!

So 4 Music have rebranded Hit 40 UK as UK Hot 40.

Is the chart still compiled in the same way?

Do they just make this chart up?

Just caught the end of the chart on 4Music and find this xfactor lot at number one, totally ignoring The Military Wives, who dont even seem to be in the Top 20, http://www.4music.com/charts/1/UKHot40/ , even though in the real world the song is outselling everything.

How can you have a pop singles chart then decide what gets into it?

Well what they're showing now is going to be last weeks chart, this weeks positions haven't been formally announced yet. So in that chart Little Mix should be number one.

But I think the Hot 40 is a slightly different chart, it either is solely based on downloads or includes airplay or something like that. I can't remember exactly.

They did say Hot40UK Xmas Number One at the end, so i am assuming it isnt last weeks chart

The record was.only released on Monday and the actual chart that relates to this weeks sales will be in Sunday so any chart THIS week will be from LAST Sunday. There might be figures being banded around but the proper charts work on a whole week of sales. Anyway its a rubbish song.

If they announce the chart on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, then this week will be the Christmas chart.

But Military Wives were only released on Sunday, so they won't chart until next week.

Not sure about when this 4Music chart is compiled, but the Hit40 and Radio1 is a Sunday, couldn't tell you what the Military Wives track even sounds like, but it is still strange to have a Video Chart that states the Xmas Week Top 20 and for a song that is clearly outselling everything else not to make an appearance clearly shows it is made up, personally i would have thought what would be put out next week on 4Music would have been the Xmas Chart, bit strange claiming that when only half way thru the week!

I think this chart includes airplay or something. Either way, its different from the official chart.
