"Tram Crash News Flash" reaches grand total of 2.9m
ITV had more than 111,000 video views for the online-only tram crash news bulletins created for Coronation Street’s 50th anniversary last week.
Almost 680,000 unique users visited itv.com/coronationstreet throughout the week – the broadcaster’s highest ever weekly figure for online Coronation Street activity. The figure is a 60% increase on the previous peak audience recorded for the soap’s site, when the character Rosie Webster performed a striptease last year. ITV revealed total video views rose to 2.9m during the week, with a peak of 605,000 on Wednesday 8 December, two days after the tram crash on TV. The broadcaster collaborated with ITN and Granada News to create the web-only video news bulletins, anchored by ITV newsreader Alastair Stewart, about events in the anniversary episodes including the major tram crash episode on 6 December New Media Age |

Great news, should hopefully encourage ITV to do more of these online specials.
I hear Garry's War Diaries also hit a good figure? |
